Jay smiled at the shack because it looked small enough that there wouldn't be any monster in it Ace looked it over and gave max a kiss, witch stated his approval
Max blushed a little at the kiss, then led them inside. Nopony seemed to have been inside since the bombs fell; there was a table, a bed, a small stove, and along one wall, a fully stocked gun rack. Max looked about, wishing she had found this place when she first left her Stable...
Ace went over and started examining the guns and looking for more ammo Jay was walking over to the things on the table
Max went to the table with Jay. There was a bag on the floor next to it, and a number of personal affects on the table; clothes, a toothbrush, a magazine... Max looked over at the gun cabinet, and realised that there was actually one missing. She figured someone had been staying here when the bombs fell, and had gone outside to see what had happened, never to return... She shook her head at the sad thought, and went to the small cabinet by the stove, to see if there was any food.
Ace started to look around at the floor He then crouched down and looked acrossed the room Jay reathced out to pick up some of the clothes "Stop!" Ace said standing back up and scaring jay "Somepony lives here" he explained "we shouldn't take anything"
"How can you tell?" Max asked, looking around, "This fire hasn't been lit for a while; I would have said that whoever was living here is long gone..."
"The hoof scuffs here" he pointed to the bed, where they hadn't walked yet "the dust has been freshly moved....maybe a day ago"
Max looked where he was pointing. How had he seen that? "Okay..." She said, looking around, half expecting somepony to burst in on them, "Well, we've got enough food in our bags for lunch anyway, so let's just eat, and then leave the place as we found it, shall we?" She didn't really want to eat outside, sitting on the muddy ground in the cold wind.
Ace didn't like it any more that her but it wasn't they'res Jay looked down and shivered once they were outside
Max noticed Jay shivering, and wrapped a hoof around her, trying to share some body warmth. She'd have to get her some more clothes to wear once they reached the Stable. "It's still a few hours away," Max said, talking loudly so she could be heard over the wind, "But if we can't find any decent shelter, I think we should just keep going until we get to my Stable, what do you think?" She asked, looking at Jay and Ace.
"Alright then, let's get going," Max said, nuzzling Jay back a bit, and wrapping her coat around both of them. She walked close to Jay as the headed off again, letting her lean against her slightly, trying to keep her warm.
Ace moved forward so he blocked most of the wind, his armor in his duster making it almost impossible for the wind to cool his body that was under it Jay smiled at the warmth He loved her nothing and father and if she had been born with different parents she'd want them to be these two ponies she was with
They walked for hours, the muddy ground making progress slow, but eventually the came across a cliff, rising up in front of them. Max stopped, and looked around, before heading for a particular group of rocks. Hidden behind them was a large set of metal doors in the ground, and a keypad. Max punched in a code, and the doors opened with a heavy thud, revealing a set of stairs, leading into a large tunnel. Max took a deep breath as she stood, looking down into the tunnel that lead to her Stable...
Jay looked down there as ace smiled at a joke he thought was funny "Ya this totally isn't ominous" he said
Max glared at him a bit, obviously not in the mood for such comments. It was hard enough for her just being back there...
Ace gave her a saddening look Showing he sorry about that He then grabbed her hoof "Sorry....but truely if you need me I'll be right next to you And with that he lead them down the way He was ready to stop when ever she wanted Jay followed silently, trying not to get the glare ace just got
"Sorry," Max mumbled, as they headed down into the tunnel, "I know you didn't mean any harm." She stayed close to him, appreciating the support, and they soon reached the Stable door; the huge metal plate was still open, as Max had seen no point in closing it when she left. She took a deep breath, and stepped inside. "I imagine the talisman would be on the maintenance level, at the bottom of the Stable..." She said, distantly, as she looked around at the familiar metal walls.
