this is for when the forum is almost empty, nothing is happening, and the few ponies who are on feel like talking to each other. It's rendered completely unnecessary by some other threads on the forum, but I felt like making it anyway
Back in 'ye olden days of the internet (pre ponies, wow!) we used to have late night chat threads/bar sim threads for those lonely few who were either in a different time zone than most users or were just always stuck burning that midnight oil. They were normally pretty fun and a decent way to kill a hour or two before you finally convinced yourself to head off to bed or start getting ready for the day.

Why would they remind me of Eris. Also since you made this in GD it should probably just stay conversational. Everypony has different rules than PonyTheaters.
I can see it getting some moderate use, provided people don't start making new threads every time they get insomnia and are up late.

This is literally the general chat thread, lol. How many incarnations of that old thing have we gone through now? I'm losing count.
General chat threads tend to get post loosing levels of activity during the day, and normally carries a different atmosphere than a more late night/very early morning focused one. And yea, I used to just use the instant chat to fulfill this, but it was normally ghost town levels of empty the times I would attempt to get on thanks to my time zone.
Yeah, on this forum we typically use the General Chat thread for this stuff; one of the reasons the General Chat Thread has been mostly inactive in recent times -- other than a dip in site activity during certain periods -- is that now people take their random conversations into threads that have more focused topics or particular goals, like Last to Post and that sort of thing.
