That's actually pretty good. However... I have no money. Good luck though. I hope you don't get banned for trying to promote this on here.
Nice artwork. I really like your style. It's close to show accurate but has its own touch. Hopefully you can get that air mattress. -Nights
I wasn't aware that opening for commissions in art sections of forums was still considered advertising- at least you guys were polite about it. The rest of the sites I tried on we're absolutely downright rude.. Would anyone take a moment to explain to me how I could do this without breaking advertisement rules or am I just up a certain creek without a paddle? Thanks..
I suppose you could link your DA or your Tumblr or whatnot in your sig, with a little note saying something like "commissions available," and have the commission info on that site. Of course, this implies that you would have to be active enough for people to see your signature. @Tyro The Fox - Not sure about this one. Is this an acceptable work-around?
I'd have no problem with that, so long as it doesn't give off this vibe. I don't think we come here to be blatantly advertised at ya know? Also, Nice art Roy
Typically, with most forums, signatures are free game for advertising. A lot of staff members of a forum will link to that forum in their signatures for other forums. As long as there is nothing too pushy about them like, "Join our forum. It's the best forum ever!" I wouldn't see the harm in advertising his services in his signature. Not only does it help him out, it also encourages activity on the forum. To actually advertise well, he'd have to be productive on the site. Following site rules (ie, spam and the like) and, again, not making the advertisement pushy or intrusive, I think it'd be beneficial for both parties. That is still, of course, a question for Tyro. If he doesn't think it's acceptable then it's not. @Roy I'd wait on a response from Tyro on the matter. I'd also go ahead and edit your original post to remove any of the info about commissions. You can leave the pictures and turn this into an art thread if you want. That's just to be on the safe side so you don't get an infraction for the thread. If it's approved, I'd do something along these lines ... Art Commissions DA Page Link | Tumblr Page Link It's not pushy or intrusive for other users and it gets the point across. Good luck. Hopefully things go well for you. Hope this helped, -Nights
It does help, thank you guys a lot. I was legitimately confused at the downright rude reaction I got on the other site because I've sold on the forums of other websites before /flight rising/exhibited/wajas, and had no idea the rules about it would suddenly be drastically different elsewhere. Edit: and thank you for letting me know my prices are fair- so many people offering free art really dampen my spirits when I try to find commissioners, not to mention the fact that my tumblr posts never get past 5 notes.
@Roy I don't see any problem with it. Would you like a mention in the next Community Post? Guys and gals, I know we've had shadier people in the past but an art tumblr seems a little petty to be jumping all over him for! Roy seems fine in showing off an optional service. The primary one being looking at pretty pictures.
@Tyro The Fox Really? That.. would be amazing... thank you so much! I'm sorry I caused such a tizzy, I worded my thread in an odd and salespersony way I suppose- again, my apologies. So then it's okay to leave the link to my commission tumblr post on my thread?
I wouldn't say anyone is jumping all over him. I've seen people get downright nasty about this sort of thing on other forums. I'm actually a little impressed that everyone here was so nice about it.
You've got a really neat art style!! So many come on here, post their ad, then hit the bricks. Glad to see you're not one of those people.
I try to get to know ponies better but I'm a remarkably shy and reclusive person, it took a lot of psyching up for me just to decide my art is even worth selling- I try to talk more but I find it horribly difficult
It's a lot better than a lot of the crap people ask money for. If you haven't already, I recommend uploading your pony art to Derpibooru, with a link to your Tumblr as the source. Derpi is the fandom's largest and most popular imageboard, so you'll reach a much larger audience than you would on forum sites. I'd suggest uploading a picture a day, to reach as many viewers (and potential customers) as possible. Also, don't worry too much about the upvote/downvote thing. Some people are only there for the NSFW stuff, and downvote safe images out of spite.
