Max nodded. "I suppose he'll probably be safe, we did get rid of the raider ponies there..." She looked back as they walked, trying to spot Jay; she felt she owed her an apology too...
Jay was mingling with jessy who seamed to be the quite one of the group Although jays innocence was probably what was getting him to talk Jack and snow were holding hooves as they walked behind and ace was watching the area for trouble And they were comeing up to that spot were those ponys were shot
Max saw that Jay was talking to one of the ponies, and decided not to interrupt; despite her initial concerns, the group seemed nice enough, and it would be good for Jay to talk to somepony besides her and Ace...
They then came to the graves jay ace and max made They seamed to have not been disturbed other then some paw prints going accrossed one of the graves "Woah....what happened here?" Jack said making snow, jay and jessy stop Ace stopped and turned as his ears flattened "That mare you told use to warn about your town and how it was gone...." Jay said before pointing at one of the graves "she's right there"
"She and the others were killed by ponies in black armour," Max said, stopping and looking back at them, "I don't know who they were."
They all looked sadly to the mares grave "She was a really nice pony....." Snow said before a tear ran down her cheek "Come on....let's keep moving" jack said as the group kept moving Ace looked at max with a sad look "We should have done something" he said feeling bad for not doing so
Max sighed, "Maybe. But maybe if we had, it would be Jay or I lying under one of these mounds, or all three of us, lying un-buried with the others."
Ace frowned "I know but still" he said as they walked Soon they past the place where max and ace first meet And it was almost dark
Max stopped, looking troubled. "Those houses on the edge of town are the closet safe place to sleep, once we're out of the canyon, and we won't reach them before dark," She said, looking at Ace. "The only cover around here is the cave I found you in..." She knew he didn't like the place, and she certainly wouldn't force him to go in there if he didn't want to, but she also wasn't going to risk having the pregnant mare attacked by timberwolves...
Ace made a discussed face as he looked at the cave "fine.....but I'm sleeping outside" he told her before whistling to everypony Once they were looking "were going to have to spend the night in that cave in there" he informed them Jessy and jack looked up there and jay sighed
"I'll sleep outside with you," Max said, leaning against Ace with a small smile. "Jay?" She called looking at the young mare, "Are you okay with this?"
Jay nodded "ya....you two can sleep out in the cold all you want" she said before she helped jack help snow up the small incline Jessy then helped jay up and ace then turned to max "Hay at least we can keep each other warm" he told max
"I'd like that~" Max smiled at Ace, and nuzzled him. "Do you think Jay will be alright with those other ponies?" She asked, looking a little concerned
"She better......or I wont talk first" he said hinting that he would hunt them down if they hurt they're adoptive daughter He then picked up max and climbed up to the little ledge outside of the cave
Max squeaked a little in surprise as Ace picked her up, but then chuckled a bit as he set her down. "I can climb myself, you know," She laughed, as she took off her saddlebags and pulled out her blanket.
Ace smiled "but then I couldn't have carried you" he said as he started to make the ground comfertable enough to sleep on
"That's sweet of you, Ace," Max said, smiling and laying down once he'd finished. She used her saddlebags as a pillow, and got under the blanket, waiting for Ace to join her.
Max scrunched her nose and giggled softly, before settling down and gazing back, at Ace, lovingly. She put herself between his hooves, and snuggled against his chest, enjoying the feel of his warm fur.
