Now my community for those who've seen the new episode and those who haven't this is spoilers up ahead just for a reminder
RARA OOH LA LA!!!! That was awesome!!! I think I have a new waifu!!! Just wish she'd have kept the ponytail look (don't judge me). Loved that song at the end too!!! SO MAGICAL!!! OK, I'm done gushing now. The callbacks to the separated cherries and Gustav's eclairs was a nice little addition to this episode. A little predictable but no less entertaining. I give it a solid 8/10!!
This was a very good episode. I really loved the songs in it too. Rara was a pretty cool pony, I liked her a lot. She did look a lot better in her normal style in the end. I'd give it a 9/10.
Dunno what to say about it. Songs are great, but I just can't seem to get into the plot >.> Really bland for me
Have we seriously not gotten this episode already? "You were good but now you sold out, the guy in charge is evil and you're better off without." "Hmph you're just jealous, no wait I see the error of my ways. I will be true to myself." One thing I gotta give the episode credit for is the awesome looking outfit Rara was wearing just before the concert, but why did she put it on at all if she was just going to take it off?
But she'd only put it on after getting rid of Svengallop, presumably with all his backups and effects. So why even have the new dress in the first place if it wasn't part of the initial plan and she'd rather just not wear it?
You know what the best part of this episode was? THE MUSIC. IT WAS AMAZING. I WAS IN EAR HEAVEN. Unfortunately, that's probably the best part of this episode. The music and the songs in this episode. It was a pretty cute episode though. But the music pretty much MADE this episode. For me at least.
Well, Rarity made it for her BEFORE AJ talked to her about staying true to herself. Watch the scene again. It's not like she put the dress on knowing she'd decide not to wear it. That would be like baking a cake when all you wanted was a spoonful of icing.
Okay so she plans originally to perform in the clothing she rehearsed in. Then after getting rid of her manager she goes with a new outfit Rarity just had on hand for some reason? Or did she make it within about an hour? And then for no real reason, she decides to go with a simpler (and uglier) black veil dress? I guess the real question is: What was her plan after getting rid of Svengallop? What did she think she was going to sing? The fact that she had a fantastic dress just for the occasion implies she wasn't just panicking without a plan.
Rarity has dresses for pretty much everything on hand so it's really not a wild stretch of the imagination. After firing her manager, I'm sure she planned on wearing Rarity's dress. However, AJ saw it as more of a put-on and convinced her to keep it simple and down to Earth. I see Rara's costume transitions as a good representation of her development and current state of mind throughout the episode. At first, she wears the veil and that beautifully epic ponytail (which as mentioned, I was sad to see go). After firing her manager, Rarity either makes her a dress or lends her one she already had. This one represents the in-between from the image Svengallop had built for her and her rediscovered self. Not knowing which side of herself to put out there has her worried and that's where AJ comes in. The third signifies the return to her roots; simple and without bells and whistles. I like the symbolism of it. And personally, I thought the 3rd one was very pretty. Guess I should thank you for getting me to dig deeper into the heart and meaning of this episode. Those writers sure are clever, aren't they?
I liked this episode, because I like singing, so it's cool to watch a story about another who likes singing. Also, I am totally judging y'all. Her look during her second performance was soooo much better than her other looks. SOOOOOOOO much better. All the other stuff like the goofy ponytail, gems in her hair, veil over her face, or weird feather things attached to her eyebrows, they are all distracting and tacky in my opinion. She's better off without them.
