Max gave her a little smile, and hugged her, sitting her down. "Oh no sweetie, you're not going to die; what's happening to you is perfectly normal," She said, reassuringly. Being a medical pony, she knew all the technicalities, but she didn't think that would be of any comfort to Jay. She thought back to how her mother had one explained it, and tried to remember her words, explaining it to Jay in as comforting and simple a way as she could manage... ----- "I hope that clears things up for you a little, Jay," She finished, a while later, "But if you have any more questions, you know I'm always here for you, promise." She gave her adoptive daughter a loving little squeeze, then looked at her, to see how she felt about everything.
She sniffed a bit and hugged max all the same "so I just have to watch my bladder till we can get back to the hospital?" She asked as she remembered some of pharmacies had those...pad things she was going to need Ace stepped down the little trail and stopped within earshot "everyponies ready to go when you are" he told them hoping he wasn't interrupting the talk they had been haveing
Max nodded to Ace, then gave Jay's ear a soft kiss, before breaking the embrace. "Just tell me if you're getting too uncomfortable, and I'll help you deal with it," She said, reassuringly. She had spells to deal with the pain. Chems too, but she was hesitant to give her daughter chems... "Don't worry sweetie, it won't last long. Now, do you want to walk with me on the way back? Or with the other ponies?" Max asked, standing back up.
Jay stood up and pressed her side agenst maxs "you" she awnsered "after a second" she added as she walked around a cliff wall to pee ------- Once jay was done she made her way down to the bottem of the canyon where everypony was Ace then levitated her saddles bag and gave it to her "ready to go?" He asked her "Yes dad" she awnsered making aces heart swell a bit by that "Everypony else still ready?" Ace then said turning to the group as his tail accedently hit maxs flank
Max blushed a bit at the feel of Ace's tail on her flank, then pulled him to one side, out of earshot of the other ponies. "Just before we go," She whispered, standing with her back to the others, "I'm going to walk with Jay at the back, to make sure she's alright; will you talk to our two 'playful' ponies? I've got nothing against them doing... that, but not where we, especially Jay, can hear them, okay?" She gave him a smile, and a kiss on the cheek, then went back to Jay, waiting for the rest of the group to start moving. Ace knew the way by now, and was a better leader than her anyway.
Ace agreed to what max told him and started them on there way again After about half an hour of walking ace called the two love birds up to where her was to talk to them Meanwhile in the back "So dose your body do this too" jay asked as she jumped down a small step like spot in the trail Immidiently wen ing as pain shot thru her legs and belly for half a second before it disappeared
Max blushed slightly, but nodded. "Yes, every mare's does, until they get too old." She explained, looking at Jay, "I'm just used to it, and have ways of making it less uncomfortable."
Jay nodded and kept walking with her "Why dose it feel like it's taking longer going back then leaving" jay asked being annoyed that it's taking forever getting back home
Despite everything, Max couldn't help but giggle at that; even after the bombs, some things never changed, fillies would always complain about how long it took to get to their destination! "We'll be there soon enough, love," She said, still chuckling slightly. "But while we've got some privacy, is there anything else you want to talk about? About what's happened over the last few days?" Max asked, once she'd become a little more serious again. She didn't really want to talk about it, but she also didn't want Jay to worry, if she could help it.
"It's... complicated," Max said, slowly, looking slightly troubled. "Everypony has disagreements, from time to time, and it's been a stressful time for us both." She explained, carefully; she didn't want Jay taking sides. "It's nothing for you to worry about though; I still love him and you very much, and that won't ever change,"
"Ok...." Jay said as they kept walking -ts- They had made good time and were now entering the city when ace stopped them "Max get up here" ace called
Max gave Jay a smile and a quick hug, before trotting up to the front of the group, and standing next to Ace. "What is it?" She asked, looking around, "Trouble?"
There were timberwolves clearly visible in the shadows They were feasting on the dead ponies from aces and maxs shoot out and got trapped in the buildings One of the timberwolves laid in the sun, it's bark flaying off even more then it had and sounded as if it was boiling with energy while on fire "Should we go aro-" ace began to ask before the timberwolf in the sun exploded in green fire and purple smoke When this happened a few of the wolves in the buildings howled in greef
Max watched, almost feeling bad for the creatures. "Well, as long as we stay out of the shadows, we should be safe," She said, looking back at Ace. She knew they were dangerous, but she didn't want to kill the timberwolves while they were helpless like that. "The hospital's security should be more than enough to keep them away come nightfall," She added, trying to convince herself as much as him.
Ace nodded and started to walk again Jessy looked at the scorch mark where the timber wolf exploded "I compleatly forgot they did that in the sun" he commented Once they started walking thru the shadows got shorter causing the timberwolves to go inside once the got to the hospital The doors opened and the turrets swiveled they're direction to scan them at being hostel Once they were satisfied they continued they're paning of the area they could see
Max headed into the hospital, and left Ace to deal with the other ponies for a moment while she went to see if she could find where the carrot-loving pony had been taken. After a fairly slow search of the maneframe, she discovered he was in a room on the fourth floor, for uncooperative patients. The robots had strapped him to a stretcher, but he was unharmed. Max took a deep breath, and walked into the room.
When max entered the room rain eyes looked over at her right before panic entered them "no I didn't mean to steal it I was just hungry don't hurt me!"
Max looked at him, slightly sadly, before trotting over to the pony's stretcher. "Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you," She said, quietly, "And I'm sorry about what I did before, I was... not well."
Rain calmed down a bit and stared at her "I'm still sorry I stole that carrot" he said looking down in embaresment
