Max blinked as the memory changed, then blushed a little, turning away from what was happening. She knew it was only a memory, but she still didn't like seeing Ace being kissed by another mare...
the memory began to change again This time ace was sitting behind a different mare brushing her mane She looked like she was enjoying it "So why are you moving to canterlot sis?" He asked the mare She was a light grey with a soft light blue mane Her eyes looked just like aces "Because I want to go to some of the collages there ace" she said in a vary soft and light voice One of those voices you couldn't picture yelling ever
Max turned back, watching with a slight smile. Ace's sister? Well this was a nice memory at least, and gave some clue as to where she might be, if she was still alive...
Ace smiled "I know...it's just really far away ya know" "Ya ya....says the stallion who's joining the military" his sister said "Right......so how long should you be there?" He asked "Well if I get in I'll be there for four years .....if not I guess I'll go somewhere else.....like Buckago...." She said as she closed her eyes "And why there?" Ace asked "Cause I like the city life....ever sence we left manehatten everything's been too slow and with Iron Works........." She went until she said that name and everything went quite and still "Ya now that he's not here anymore" ace quitely said with a few tears in his eyes "Ya" she said trying not to choke up "Now that he's not with us and wanting us to go live on a farm I can go do that" "I think after the war I'll make him that farm" ace said quitely after a long silence "I think he'd love that" she said standing up and hugging him "Well....hopefully next time you see my name it will be on the deans list" she said as she started to cry.....making this seam more like aces last memory of her "Ya silver pen on the deans list.....that has a nice ring to it" ace said to her Silver smiled "love ya twin" she said pulling away "You too sis" Then the memories began cyclaling and going faster Aces classes in school His training The break up with Maxine ....the war
Max sat back on her haunches, a little disoriented by the speed of the images and sounds flashing past. It offered her a glimpse, rather than the whole story, behind who Ace really was...
Then finaly Ace was sitting back on a little farm he was talking about buying "So you wont be able to move in till after you finish the war?" An older pony asked "That's right....I'm just here on leave I go back to the front tomar-" Just then a blaring sirren filled the air from far away "Is that what I think it is" ace said standing up and moving to see around the bushes Once he was in view of where the siren was coming from the two ponies saw bright flashes from that direction....then another and another.....untill it had happened from any major city that was in range of the light to reach them "I'm afraid you wont be going back out boy" the older pony said before the sound and shock waves hit them Making them fall down This was where ace was when the bombs fell Then another memory came to him This one the last one he was able to focus on The cave Ace crawled up the side of the cliff with two other ponies They looked bruses and battered except for ace He looked as nice as when he met max Except without the gouge on the back of his head "guys I need to be going to Buckago not the other way!" Ace said as they made it to the cave "Well we need to meet up with my brother....he's supposed to be in a town up ahead...he'll be able to give us supplies so we can make the trip to Buckago to find your sis" "Why don't you go by yourself.... You handle your self really well" the other pony said in a gridded voice then the other stallion "Maybe I will" ace mumbled The other ponies seamed to have heard him but payed no mind to the comment "eather way they're are timber wolves around this area so we need to take shelter" "Fine" ace said as he laid in the spot where the rock would land on him "I'll take watch" one pony said before standing at the cave entrance as ace closed his eyes and slept and the world around max blacken until ace opened his eyes again "Come on were leaving....hersal saw some bandits and we want to get past them before they wake up" the pony said before leaving out the cave Ace yawned and slowly got up His sword slid off his back and hit the wall A crack shot up the wall to a perfictly placed rock obove aces neck It then fell and hit him making the memories come to a halt and the two ponies wake up back in the hospital
(Really? All this time he was knocked out because he dropped his own sword? x3) Max blinked a few times, readjusting to reality, glad of the dim lighting in the room. She removed her helmet, then hit a few keys on the terminal, saving the memories to a holotape, and turning the machine off.
Ace sat ther almost in shock of what had happened to him....and....his sister...he still needed to find her and now he knew where to look "Max" she shakily said
"Yes, I'm here Ace," Max said, getting up and moving over to his chair. "Are you alright? Follow my hoof with your eyes," She instructed, waving her hoof slowly in front of his face. They could discuss what he'd seen once she'd determined that he hadn't sustained any psychological harm during the procedure.
"Yes, I was there," Max replied, nodding slightly. "Did you find what you were hoping to?" She asked, sitting beside his chair.
"And more...too much more" ace said trying to get the grizzly images of ponies and zebras out of his head
"Well... they were the memories your mind chose, so they must have meant something to you, before you lost them," Max explained. "I've stored them onto a holodisk, so you can view them on this machine, or at a terminal, whenever you want. They're separated, so you only have to view the ones you wish." She stood up, and retrieved the holodisk, before passing it to him. "Are you... glad we did this?" She asked, looking concerned, "I'm sure it's a lot to take in..."
"I-it is...but I'm glad I know where to look for my sister" he said giving her a soft smile as he stood up and took the disk
"Buckago?" Max said, before chewing her lip, and looking a little troubled. "Ace... by hoof, it'll take a month at least to get there; it'll be winter..."
Brave looked at her saddened "What if she needs me?" He asked "What if she dies and I could have saved her!" He said as he began to cry All the love he felt for his sister flooded to him unlike the last time he thought of her He just couldn't stop himself as his eyes watered and he began to not make sence with his speech
Max frowned. "Just how weak do you think your sister is?" She asked, in a firm tone, "It's been years since the bombs fell, and if she's anything like you, Ace, she'll be able to take care of herself, and will have been doing so for years. What do you think Silver would rather? Seeing her brother a couple of months from now, or never seeing him again, because he foolishly raced off into the wastes in the dead of winter, and would up frozen to death or eaten?" She sighed, and hugged him. "I promise, as soon as the weather's good enough, we'll head straight there, and in the meantime, we'll get ready for that trip, but for now, you're needed here, Ace. This hospital needs you. Jay needs you." She paused for a moment, then continued in a small voice. "I need you..."
Ace stopped crying and hugged her back "Thank you" he whispered "Thank you for everything" he said before he gave a shaky sigh and before he pulled back with a blush on his face "So...ugh....did you see me at the high school hallway with that mare?" He said rubbing the back of his head
"No, I must have missed that one..." Max lied, a faint red tinge to her cheeks as she looked at her Pipbuck. "Oh! Ah... It's been six hours since we started..." She said, smiling and shaking her head, "Guess time passes faster in the mind... We should go and see how Jay and the others are getting on."
Ace frowned "please don't lie to me max....you could have just said you didn't want to talk about it" he said leading her out to find jay
