So i see that most ponyforums, have galleries, and i enjoy that feature, alot, since there is a no-clop rule, I thought it could be something on here.No? PS. not trying to overwhelm the creator here.
Hmm. I have a few mixed emotions about galleries. In the past, every gallery I've seen has either been abandoned by the users or clogged with so much nonsensical images that it wasn't even worth viewing. That's just from my experience. If there was one put in place, I feel like it would have to be heavily moderated. Make sure there's no double posts. Make sure none of the content violates the rules. Etc. I wouldn't mind being able to login and just browse images while I'm on the forum though. It'd be interesting to see the best of the best fanart. Personally, I won't delve more than a few pages to find a good picture. There's a whole world of images out there I haven't seen yet but I'd like to. I just don't like trying to find them. I'm a little on the fence with this one. I know the Tech Staff has their hands full trying to get everything running smoothly, ironing out all the kinks that followed the move from vBulletin. As a future suggestion, I don't see why it shouldn't be something to be reviewed later for acceptance. Right now I, personally, wouldn't classify this as too far up on the list. It's not something that is necessary at this juncture. Again, I think it's a really good suggestion and I'd like to see it given some thought. It just might take a little time before it comes to fruition. Excellent suggestion, Na11. I +1 this idea for present or future consideration. This is also something I've been wondering as well. I mean, we already have a Creative Arts section and all, but it would be nice to have an actual image gallery. This is a pretty good suggestion, I'll keep it in mind for future references. However, I'd highly recommend Derpibooru, a lot of MLP images are posted on there. But, be careful what filter you put it on though.
Derpibooru filters are for the weak. I wouldn't mind seeing something like this for EP, but is it even doable? PonyTheaters also uses XenForo, and Jewel has their site imageboard on a separate booru site. It kind seems like a lot of work.
The only problem with Db and several other image galleries is that you have to set the safe filter. Having a gallery here would remove the need to do so as NSFW is against the rules. I don't enjoy looking for good stocks and having to see things because I forgot to set a filter. Some images slip through anyway. There are several image gallery add-ons but I've only been able to find one that's free. It is doable. Honestly, most gallery add-ons will use XenForo's built in attachment uploading capability anyway. If the staff would like to look into this, I'd recommend XFR's User Albums (the free one), sonnb's XenGallery (40 USD), or XenForo's XenForo Media Gallery (60 USD). Obviously the paid add-ons will have better features and functionality but that only matters if you have the funds to cover the cost. Still think this is worth looking into in the future. I'd be willing to donate a bit of money towards one of the paid galleries. -Nights
Could do a Tumblr Page we update whenever something is submitted. It's easily seen, easily searched and presentable in anyway we like. Though, I'd prefer an on-site arrangement. I'll take a look. Nice idea though.
To build up more content on our official Everypony Tumblr, we could set aside a set day where submitted works by users on the site are uploaded.
This Tumblr thing sounds like a good idea. It might even bring a few new people to the site. What about an Everypony ZeviantArt group?
