Max had started pushing the door open as he talked, and turned to look at him as he leaned back, not noticing the ghouls within. She was caught completely unaware as the withered and rotting mare tackled her to the ground.
Ace was snapped back to reality as he saw the shriveled pony takle max "No!" He called out as he pulled his sword and cut the ghouls head off in a clean swipe
"Gah!" Max cried, partly in fear, partly in disgust. She kicked the corspe off herself as three more ghouls emerged from the shop; two foals and a stallion, obviously some family that had attempted to seek shelter there. The stallion leapt at Ace, and the filly and colt charged at Max. She stared in horror, and just managed to block their path with her shotgun, trying to hold them back.
ace took no time in slicing the stallions head in two before swinging his sword at the colt and cutting the poor thing in half and accrossed the sidewalk he then pulled out his 44 and shot the filly in the head this was the first time max would see the elite deadly solder in him as his eyes had glazed over and his face showed no emotion from killing the family it may have only been seconds...but that face would give nightmares to even a dimond dog for exposure for half that time aces face relaxed as he began to shakily breath from killing the fouls "i....i killed them" he said in shock as his sword and gun dropped into the bloody snow
Max nodded slightly, not able to take her eyes off the bodies as she crawled backwards away from them. "I-I hate this place..." She whimpered.
Max shivered again, then finally looked away and stood up. She walked over to Ace, then leant against him and headed into the shop, avoiding the bodies.
ace magicly picked up his weapons as he leaned on max, and accedently kicking a skull witched didnt even bring a reaction from ace
The store was remarkably well preserved, considering; most of the clothes were still intact, and the ground was free of the litter and debris which covered so much of the wasteland. Only the small camping stove and bedrolls tucked in the corner, and the barricaded windows betrayed the fact that the war had happened at all. "I wonder how long they were in here before..." Max started, before thinking better of it; it was best not to dwell on the past...
ace seamed to be in a daze be he shugged his shoulder "most likly too long" he said as he sat by the bedrools and waited for max to get her winter clothes
Max sighed, then started looking through the clothes racks. After a while, she found a heavy coat, a bit like Ace's duster, but brown, and with a fur collar. She put it on over her white coat, then went to sit next to him. "Are you okay?" She asked, touching his hoof with her own.
"i...i dont know....when you were attacked...i....i...i just lost control and blacked out until after i had shoot the filly" he said confused
"Combat training kicking in?" Max suggested, frowning slightly and pulling a little torch out of her coat before checking his eye response.
ace sheilded his eyes from the light not realizing what she was doing "oh...your testing again" he said as he relaxed and put his hoof down
"Oh no, I just like flashing you," Max replied, smiling slightly. "You seem okay now... Do you feel dizzy at all?" She asked, after finishing her check.
"A little bit afterwords but that was after I realized what I had done to the filly.....it was merciless" he said looking at her He knew it had had to be done but still....he didn't even have a second thought when he did it
"Well... You were a soldier; I'm sure you were trained to act without hesitation, to protect yourself and your comrades," Max said, sitting beside him, "And she wasn't really a filly, not anymore..."
"I guess your right" he said before he leaned towards her and nuzzled her cheek "at least your ok" he said before leaning back and looking outside "We should try to find the vet before it gets dark"
Max smiled at the nuzzle. "Yes... I don't like to think where I'd be without you..." She replied, leaning against him. "But I suppose you're right. We should get going." She sighed, after a couple of minutes, before standing up. "There are only three parks in the town," She said, looking at her pipbuck's map, "And we've already been to one."
"We have?" Ace said getting up and wiping this sword clean with already cut up coat that had been close
