If you had read my entire post instead of just picking out the parts you wanted to take a hatchet to, you would've gotten my point. And if we are splitting hairs... ...is that not more of a cop out than fair criticism? And are peoples reactions to the shows flaws really off topic? I'll just leave with that since I don't want this getting any more out of hand than it already has.
Another problem I have with the show is just how rushed it seems half of the time. Like Starlight Glimmer's poorly done "Redemption" for example. It's like the writers just threw it in because they had no idea what else to do with her after wasting too much time on the Alternate Timeline junk. Yes, FIM has time constraints and whatnot, but so does every other piece of fictional media, and some of them are so good at handling it that you don't notice the constraints. Then there's some of the absolutely stupid decisions made with the show too, like making Vinyl Scratch a mute {And thus completely missing the point on why people like her and Octavia}, the aforementioned Starlight Glimmer situation, getting rid of Babs Seed off-screen for no reason or having Castle Sweet Castle NOT focus on Twilight and instead on her friends, even though the episode was about the aftermath of her home being blown up. Next thing you know they'll decide to completely throw out somepony's previously established characterization because the people working on the show just don't care that much.
We've all been there, mate. Yeah, pretty much, which might lead one to conclude that a prerequisite for liking MLP is wanting something less complicated than Game of Thrones. I remember back when it first came out, FiM was compared favorably to its previous incarnations. So, in that way, you might say complexity is relative.
