Let's do a quick thing. After the weeks of heavy stuff, let's relax a little.

So, I recently got to GM a Pokemon Tabletop United game for the first time. I charged in, guns blazing. I'd read all I could, set myself up and promptly got an encounter I thought would be dangerous, defeated inside an hour. To be fair, I miscalculated the effectiveness of 4 on 1 much more powerful character. Not powerful enough, apparently.

But my players had fun so, I'm good.

The encounter I ran to ease my players into the game and get my own feet wet was simple: the player's characters were called to train with a Gym Leader calling himself Lucifer 'Kyrios' Bedfellow. Lucifer liked Dark and Ghost type Pokemon, making him rather dangerous for a first encounter but this was against four Level 1 trainers armed with a level 20 pokemon each.

A rough idea what Lucifer looks like. Sexy, huh? Well, he counters that
    with being kind of unpleasant.

The first plan, just to get everyone up and ready, was a level 30 Mightyena. I'd built 'Shelly' to be pretty dangerous. It mainly had Melee range moves but they hit hard. Even worse, if I could strike someone with a Dark Type move, Kyrios could make it worse. If I felt the match was getting out of hand...

Shelly moved in, managing to smack a few of the player's pokemon around for a bit. But then, they surrounded Shelly and wrecked her. They were able to flank my pokemon, making damaging it almost facile. Shelly didn't stand a chance.

Well! Now that Lucifer Bedfellow wasn't wasting his time with the weak, a grin slits across his face. He didn't need to hold back anymore!

So! Now my players are kinda hooked! Which is great! It pleases me greatly that even though I didn't put up much of a defence, their first go at this worked out really well. They also get some prizes to pick up with their shiny new experience. All is good.

    Sweeet! Sweeeet! Sweet victory!

Though, that wasn't the only encounter we ran that night. A few of us retired to a friend's house and decided to set up there too. That lead to a sparring match between four of us, including me.

All of the characters we've been using so far have been built by me. They've all been based on the Mane Six and six of my friends OC's. Including Tyro the Fox. Yep! I'm in here too. And that's who I was playing. The match was me and Amy Bird, a children's illustrator, verses Rainbow Dash and children's author Foxytail. I had a Haunter, Foxytail had a Bulbasaur, Rainbow Dash has a Staraptor and Amy had a Herdier.

So, early on, I moved Tyro out into the battlefield and used Ember, one of Tyro's special abilities on as many pokemon as possible. This is because there otherwise wasn't much of an advantage for anyone in terms of type match ups here unless I got my trainer to try to breath fire on the Bulbasaur. The guy playing Rainbow Dash took this as a massive insult and proceeded to sort Tyro out. Over the course of the match, Rainbow Dash beat Tyro up, knocking him flat out by using Aerial Ace, because it did good damage against the defensively weak Tyro as well as never missed.

Yeah. If you don't remember from the last time I talked about PTU, trainers can attack and do stuff too.

Otherwise, Herdier was beating up the Bulbasaur and the Haunter had put the Staraptor to sleep. It had become chaos. But it was still tons of fun. In the end, Rainbow Dash and Foxytail won out.

    Gracious in victory, as always

My players are now chomping at the bit to play again. While I think I might need to figure out a few bits that didn't make sense. Like flying mechanics didn't seem right but we rolled ahead anyway. The feeling's mutual. I can't wait to get back behind the screen and play again.

OK! Let's see what's happening! Just look around the site. Check on some threads. Look in to-AHHHH!

NO! BACK! BACK PUG-BABY THING! NOOO! Burn it with fire! I'll settle for putting too many blankets on it in the hopes that it'll overheat. Just move it from the world and we will all be better.

I need to relax. Ah! Art threads! Yes! Here's fellow canine Stuffy's latest. Flutteryshy is going all arty on us too. Flying Colours has a little traditional work to show off. Strawberry Kitty made something amazing too.

OK, all right I'm good now. I can show off the latest review I've done on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Next, Flying Colours is sharing knowledge on how to avoid Google's Youtube robots. Always good to see people spreading advice.

Lastly, someone actually saw Jem and the Holigrams?! That movie played exclusively to empty chairs across the world, didn't it?

Right! See you guys later. I have encounters to build.

I'd like all of you to take a moment to reflect on the fact that the creator of PuppyMonkeyBaby likely made more money for that single idea than you earn in a year.
