"We will start with.. wait. Iprobably shouldnt. Im driving Rave to Canterlot in a bit. Never mind for now."
"I'm not, actually," he responded. "I've only been writing music by myself. Are you in one, by any chance?"
Raven nodded. "Yeah, just got one together. Had a pretty good show last week, got signed to a label."
"Wow, that's great!" he responded. "When's your album coming out? I'd love to hear what you've got in store."
Raven took the guitar and tuned it a little. "So here's a fun, little thing I wrote when I was a filly and... super into pirates for some reason. Not my usual thing, I usually try to be serious, but it sounds good acoustic." She started playing a pirate-friendly riff. After a moment, she sang, her vocals a bit harsher than they were at last week's show. Spoiler My friends I stand before you To tell a truth most dire There lurks a traitor in our midst Who hath invoked the captain's ire She don't deserve no mercy We ought to shoot her with a gun But I am not an evil mare So first let's have a little fun We'll tie that scoundrel to a rope And throw her overboard Drag her underneath the ship A terrifying deadly trip Keelhaul that filthy landlubber Send her down to the depths below Make that traitor walk the plank With a bottle of rum and a yo ho ho I will not say what she has done Her sins are far too grave to tell It's not my place to judge a mare But for them she will burn in hell The sharks will dine upon her flesh Leviathan will have her soul Take her money and her hat She won't need them where she's gonna go But first lets tie her to a rope And throw her overboard Drag her underneath the ship A terrifying deadly trip Keelhaul that filthy landlubber Send her down to the depths below Make that traitor walk the plank With a bottle of rum and a yo ho ho (IRL song: Alestorm - Keelhauled)
"Damn," he reacted, mouth agape. "That was amazing! I can't wait for your album to come out! When's your next show?!"
"We raised a very talented mare," Dusty commented. Maya nodded. "Sure did." Raven shrugged. "Really, I've been focused on recording this week. Barely able to even do that, after all that chaos. It might be a sec."
"You're working too hard," Marquee said, walking in. "The live album from the concert comes out next week. It's already gone silver in the presales, and they're expecting gold by the end of the month." (Using the UK certification thresholds, because they just make more sense for Canterlot.)
Marq sighed. "Barely. I went to see her this morning. They're keeping her knocked out while they try to heal her, but it's slow going. Poor girl's wrapped up like a mummy, and the doctors kept saying something about her being poisoned. Her Pops is looking pretty ragged, too. The nurse said he hasn't slept since he brought her in." He looked at Raven curiously. "What the heck happened? I know she got into a fight, but with what?"
"One pony did that? To Shady?" Marq shook his head in disbelief. "I don't know if I should be pissed off or impressed. I'm leaning a bit towards pissed off, to be honest. If I wasn't sure he'd kill me, I'd go over there and kick his ass."
*"Seriously though, if she starts getting worse. Let me know. Those healers are best IN Equestria. I know the if not best, then second best out of Equestria."*
