Pirates! (The Roleplay)

Natalia looked at him with dead eyes, and spoke in a flat voice.

"The only time I felt safe was when I was at sea," she said softly. "Once I had escaped, I didn't need your help. When I did need someone, anyone," her eyes narrowed, "not one person was there." She stepped forward, with a calculated, furious look in her eyes.

"Knox gave me more pain than anything or anyone. And not one person was there. If your... group had been there, we wouldn't be having this argument."

She sighed, and the fight seemed to drain from her eyes.

"Look," she said, rubbing her temples. "I know you can't return without that money or my dead body. You don't want to fight me, and I'm not sure you would win anyway." She jerked a thumb out onto the deck. "I have quite a few loyal crew out there, and they would probably not allow you to return to land alive. I don't believe your group deserves the money, but, again that is not your decision. You just need to return with the money. So, I have a proposition to offer you."

 

"I don't have the money to give you, nor do I feel I should. As I said, Knox has all the money that you pursue. However, we are heading to Urela currently. If the legends are true, this treasure should be way more than 25,000. We receive the treasure, and you will be paid. In the meantime, you have to act as my crew, obey my commands, act as you have been acting, and please try to avoid attempted murder. I may have to keep my eye on you more securely, for obvious reasons. Do we have a deal?"

 

She cracked a smile.

"I wouldn't go down with out a fight. But you can't expect any different from me, could you?"

 

Natalia watched the door close, and sat down heavily. The cut in her side stung, and she bit her lip, mulling over the last few events.

That kid was annoying, but no matter. She supposed he didn't really have a choice.

 

(Why is everyone trying to get money from Natalia?!? smfh.)

The ship sailed until nightfall, where they stopped a couple miles out from the shore. Lights danced and cheers came from the land, but out on the ship, the mood was quiet.

Natalia sat at her desk yet again, making notes about Urela.

"This place seems to be extremely festive," she wrote. "They are celebrating something currently."

She stood up, muttering under her breath at the sharp pain making an unwelcome reappearance.

She looked up at a knock on the door. Jack entered, and she could tell he had been worrying.

"Oh, Jack," she sighed.

"What.. were you thinking?" Jack asked quietly. "How could you have gone and seen that man? You know what he did. To our family. To us."

She smiled slightly, and reached into her breast pocket, pulling out the locket she snuck from Knox's pocket during the fight.

"It was worth it."

Jack looked at the locket with astonishment.
"Is it.. Is she still in there?" His voice was hushed, as though he had been punched in the lungs.

Natalia bit her lip.

"I haven't looked. If she wasn't..." Natalia trailed off. She didn't need to finish.

He looked at her square in the eye, blue meeting blue, the only thing that showed that they were family. "Your great grandfather started it," his father always used to say.

"Open it."

(I just realized I didn't really leave this for anyone. I had to stop because my teacher was being rude. Sorry!)

Ellia considered herself agnostic. If a God did exist, she certainly didn't want to shut him out, but the more logic driven side of her stated that there was no way, no how. If He did exist, though, Ellia thought that He did a pretty good job on sunsets.

"Look at that," she said softly, leaning against a banner on the edge of the ship.

 

"Isn't it?" Ellia replied, sliding next to Avice. "I had to live in Urela for a while, but it wasn't all bad. You didn't ever get used to this view."

Jade sauntered down the stairs lazily to where Jared was drinking.
"Urela isn't that sandy," she began, "and I hear that it's the most festive time of year. Won't you please come?"

 

She grinned, and looked down at her feet almost shyly.
"Good. I honestly thought you would take more convincing. I had more arguments prepared. I'm really good at debate."

 

"You're one of my closest friends here," Jade said shortly. "Plus, we're a team. Can't lose a member of the team!" She tilted her head slightly.

"You okay?"

Natalia slid a fingernail under the clasp and it clicked. With a deep breath, she swung the latch open.

Inside was a small portrait of a woman. Her pose was unnaturally stiff, but her limbs were fluid, and she had a strange smile on her face, as if she was amused with the artist behind the canvas. She had dark brown hair, and familiar startling blue eyes. She wore a gown of dark grey, contrasting with her pale skin, but there was a flush on her cheeks as she stared out of the painting, and Natalia stared back.

"Jack," she said, and her voice cracked. She cleared her throat and looked up at him. "Jack, it's her."

 

Natalia jumped when Sierra entered, and in a flash grabbed her knife. She held it out with one hand, and her other hand holding the locket close to her heart. Her hair was messy, and her gaze was somewhat distracted. She paused for a moment, before quickly realizing who it was. She sat back down heavily, and shook her head.
"My apologies. You startled me."

Jack, on the other hand, merely glanced up when Sierra entered the room. His mind was racing, and he too looked distracted, and he ran his hand through his hair in thought. He was a little frustrated, to be sure. He wanted to see the image as well, but they couldn't share it while Sierra was here.

Natalia took a moment, and then looked up at the ashamed medic.

"You're probably right, Ms. Feist; I have been.. how did you put it? Ah yes, 'waltzing around'. However, I'm afraid I don't feel comfortable going back to the infirmary. I have many enemies, after all. If you don't mind, I'll be sleeping here tonight. If it satisfies you, I can allow you to check the bandages. I am almost certain none of the stitches have split."
