Jade walked barefoot out onto the deck. "It is nice.. but there's something weird about it," she said. Ellia scaled down from the ropes, and joined them. "You guys hear that too?" Jade approached the edge of the ship, leaning over and tucking her hair behind her ear to get it out of her face. The waters below looked dark and dangerous, and she frowned. "I don't like it." A fog was beginning to set in Jared's mind, and it began to cloud his thoughts. The song was so enchanting, and his limbs began to feel heavy. "Nunc in aeternum. Habemus."
"Oh wow... it's so... calming." He walked over to the edge of the ship. He looked around for the source of the enticing music.
"Careful Jared," Jade cautioned, squinting into the water. "We don't know what this is for sure yet." To Jared's eyes, he began to see a shape rising from the deep. His head deepened into the fog, and he saw a young woman's head break the surface. With bright, large green eyes, and auburn hair, she grinned up at him, freckles dotting the bridge of her nose. She reached a hand up to him, her smile kind and enticing.
Jared's eyes widened. "There... there's someone there..." He reached his arm down the side of the ship.
Jade saw nothing. "Jared, stop," she said urgently. "There's nothing there." The girl in the water shook her head silently at Jade, and pulled her hand a little closer to the water, making Jared reach farther. (This storyline pertains specifically to @Stuffy McPatch and @AzureBlitz, so we might have to wait a little bit after this encounter.)
"No. There is somebody down there!" He leant over the side of the ship. His torso bendig over the wooden railing with his feet off the floor.
The girl smiled, and with a sudden lunge, she grabbed Jared's hand with surprising strength, and pulled him off the deck of the ship. "Jared!" Jade yelped, making a grab for him, but the girl was too fast, and Jared fell into the water with a splash.
The song gurgled in his ears, and suddenly, the girl was right next to him, whispering in his ear. But now, her skin was a dark blue, and her eyes were a milky white. Her teeth were sharp, and she bared them at him. "Festum," she whispered, and Jared, despite the danger he was in, felt his mind go blank for a moment. The instant Jared sank under the water, Jade turned to Ellia. "Grab me a rope!" she said, and when Ellia obliged, Jade tied it around her waist. "Damn sirens," Jade muttered as she fastened the knot. The other end, she tied to a beam. "Get the captain," was the last thing she said before jumping into the water.
Sierra hastily, but gently guided her down to the med bay. she placed her on on one of the beds and began searching for supplies. "I'm not sure if those other medics even disinfected the wound but if I don't fix that your a goner." She rushed over to Natalia with a bottle of alcohol,a bandage roll, string, and a giant cloth patch. "This is gonna sting," she said, pouring some alcohol on the patch and placing it on the wound. "put some pressure on it while i get ready."
Natalia cursed at the pain. "Damn it," she muttered, and placed a shaky hand on the wound, putting pressure on the patch. At that moment, Ellia burst into the room, not noticing the scene in front of her. "Capt'n!" she gasped, out of breath, "Sirens!" Natalia groaned and struggled to sit up.
Sierra gently pushed her back down on the bed. "Your in no condition to be walking around," she turned back to Ellia. "Captain Natalia isn't available right now so talk to me." She turned back to Natalia. "I'll be back real quick," she turned around and began walking out of the med bay, beginning to ready her gun. "Alright what is it about these sirens that's causing such a hassle?" She walked out on deck and went over to the edge of the boat where the rope was and saw Jared and Jade struggling about in the water. "I WOULD take a shot but those two are in the way. But I'll wait." She pulled out her pistol and aimed into the water, looking for a perfect shot.
Natalia groaned in the medical bay. She reached for the bandages that Sierra had left out. Sirens were the worst. She should know. She sat up, crying out quietly in pain as she wrapped the bandage around her waist. Jade sank like a stone, swimming after Jared's rapidly sinking body. She grabbed his flailing arm, and tugged, trying to swim towards surface.
Sierra looked into the ocean and suddenly, saw a quick blur. She fired into the water and for a moment, there was silence. Slowly, an oddly colored lady floated up to the surface,a hole in her neck and an odd shade of blood leaking out into the water. As she began pulling in the rope. "Mind giving me a hand?"
Ellia joined Sierra at the rope, and they began pulling, hauling the two up to the surface. Natalia gritted her teeth, and once the bandage was administered, she stood up weakly, feeling a curious sense of deja vu. She tried to move, and fell to the ground. This was embarrassing.
Cobiah was taking inventory of the ships rations and supplies, planning for a bit of subterfuge in the future, when he heard a dull thud in the adjacent room. Cobiah walked in on Captain Natalia on the ground. He might not get a better chance at taking her out of the equation, but it was too soon. He sighed, and gingerly lifted her onto her feet, and out her arm over his back. "Take it easy, Captain. You need to rest. I'll take you to your quarters."
She laughed, but it cut off quickly as another jolt of pain went through her side and she shook her head, her sense of deja vu increasing. She leaned her weight on him gratefully, but she was light, as if she was not full of muscle and bone, but air. "Thank you, Mr. Seatone, but I don't much feel like going through that again. Please, just take me to the deck. We're being attacked by sirens, apparently."
"Sirens?" He asked, making his way back to the storage room. He sat Natalia down before rummaging through a barrel, and procuring several rubber earplugs. "We're going to need these." He popped them in his own ears, before placing a pair in Natalia's ears. He hoisted her back up again, and walked carefully up the stairway to the deck.
Avice was on the deck soon after she heard the singing, her expression was unlike her usual laidback look. She looked like a wolf that had just found it's prey. She looked over the edge of the boat, her eyes narrow as she focused on the water. "I heard you... You can't hide from me." She muttered to herself, pacing back and forth while occasionally looking into the sea.
"Good thinking," Natalia mumbled, refusing to not give credit even though she doubted Cobiah could hear her. The deck was crowded with people, and Natalia pursed her lips. Jade and Jared were being hoisted up, and Natalia sighed. "Damn sirens," she whispered, shaking her head. She cleared her throat. "Everyone, especially the males in our party," she called. "While we cannot leave these sirens surrounding us, we need protection. There are earplugs in the storage room. Fetch some so that you cannot hear their song, and then return." Jack joined them, already holding multiple earplugs in his hand. "Ahead of you, Captain," he said, a little too loudly, displaying that his earplugs were already intact.
