Just recently Fight for the Future started a campaign to let the government know what level of damage the DMCA policy is doing. The government has been asking us recently and this is your chance to let a government representative know what you think needs to be done and what you think of the DMCA policy. Nostalgic Critic, Doug Walker, has posted a video about this and the link to the site. Both are provided above. If you're concerned about the issue involving the DMCA and what it is doing to Youtube, let the government know. Join the fight to stop pointless DMCA takedowns on videos that don't infringe on copyrights and are in the confines of Fair Use! Stop the DMCA Takedown Abuse!

I signed it. The world needs less people like Derek Savage taking down people who don't deserve it. The definition of fair use is becoming mangled because of people like him. We can make a stand!

I signed it as well. It's ridiculous how much content is taken down by copyright for something that doesn't really need to be flagged.

The site is officially closed now. To all those that did join in, enjoy the battle ahead. Those who didn't, that's your choice~

Edit: The site is not down yet, but it will be in the next 22 hours, so get to it before time runs out!

I received an email yesterday of the DMCA takedown abuse, stating what they plan on doing. Anyone else get this?

I don't think so. If they did, it's an updated on what hey will be doing to stop fair use abuse. In my other post similar to this. I posted how the WTFU movement has already got a lot of companies scared and emotional. The Copyright Offices themselves have placed hit pieces against us. Also earlier this month there were two openings to talk about Copyright at the United States Government Office Round Table. Hopefully this'll put a foot hold on our concerns with how it's been affecting the internet badly.

The RIAA is the only thing unmoved and is wanted to put up a DMCA amendment called 'Take Down, Stay Down' which will prevent copyrighted material from being able to be re-uploaded. The fear is that'll hit fair use works and stop transformative works from being allowed on Youtube.

I signed as well. I'm tired of their abuse.

Update: "Thanks to everyone who helped overwhelm the government with nearly 100,000 public comments, we were able to convince the U.S. Copyright Office (USCO) to give us a seat at the table in their closed-door meetings on DMCA reforms."

Honestly, I'm sick and tired of these big companies taking advantage of the law to silence critics, only to play victim when they get called on their bullsh*yay*. They're like particularly manipulative schoolyard bullies. They'll beat you up when you don't do something they like, but as soon as you call them out on it, they start whining about "You're taking my lunch money, I'm telling Mommy, waaaah!" Seriously, these people need to stop using the piracy card as an excuse for censorship. So what if you're losing money? If you're more concerned about your wallets than your reputation, you don't deserve to have people buying the crap you half-assedly call "entertainment" and fight tooth-and-nail to protect from the "eeeeevil Internet and their opinions." (Looking at you, Viacom.)
