Mat nodded, devouring the rest of it, before giving a bit of a chuckle, "Eh... sorry about that... I might have a problem."
Raven blinked. "That's uhh... still a lot of bits." "Never seen somepony eat like that," Maya commented.
"I guess I never really thought about it. He never ran with the elite Canterlot crowd, so I never felt like a rich filly."
"Very true," Nightshade agreed. "The Canterlot upper class is full of some of the worst ponies I've ever met. I swear, I think half of them are Longhorns." The Longhorn Society, as most ponies knew, was an infamous group of Unicorn supremacists that had been around for over a century. Members wore hooded cloaks to hide their identities, so membership in the Society was a secret known only to other members.
"Yeah, I had a Canterlot family like that. Never changes. Ugh..." Maya shook her head. "My brother was a unicorn. Went on to be kinda like a proto-Longhorn. Dick head came after me. Of all pegasi."
"Wow... that was really stupid of him." Nightshade shrugged. "So you're from Canterlot, huh? Dad's told me some stories about the city when it was new... is it true that Princess Celestia's phoenix almost burned down the castle before they even finished it?"
"Huh. So I guess he's older than you, than." She laughed. "Am I the only one who finds it odd that we refer to everything that happened back then as 'a thousand years ago?' I mean, c'mon. The founding of Equestria, the rise and fall of Lord Discord, and the banishment of Nightmare Moon didn't all happen in the same year."
She giggled. "That's a lot easier than saying one thousand twenty-four years and two days ago. And if you mean my bro... yeah, he was."
"I meant my dad, actually. I don't think even he remembers his exact age. But I know he was a grown stallion before Canterlot was built, so I guess he's older than you." She grabbed another piece of pizza. "So, what happened with your brother? You two ever make peace?"
"Well, that's good. At least you had few good years." For some reason, Nightshade had expected the story to have a darker ending. Maybe she was too accustomed to violence.
