how about I watch some of the show. not all of it is that important is it? give me a guide to the ones that have the most foundation. I have not seen the deep plot I thought it would be but I can tell I have missed much. what can you tell me to get me up to date and what should I watch. ~gogo the fox
Err...well, you kinda need to watch everything (in my opinion). Each character has episodes that span on development from the last they starred in, so I recommend at least reading the synopsis for the ones that interest you less.
This is a rather odd question. As a series with a strong focus on self-contained slice of life stories that are very light on story arcs or recurring characters (at least in the earlier seasons), it really depends on your definition of "important".
Yeah, I'm in agreement. They should be something you want to watch, not something you feel the need to watch. It does seem an odd question. If you enjoy the show, you should enjoy watching it from the beginning.
Start from episode one and just watch 'em all. You ain't special. You don't get to skip the mediocre episodes. You have to watch 'em all, just like the rest of us did.
Even some mediocre episodes play an important role in the building of plot and suspense to the finales. Every little step counts to the top!
So I guess the general consensus is no. No, you can't skip most of the show and still understand what's happening.
I pretty much agree with all of the other posts on here. You really should watch all the episodes. They are all good in their own, unique, individual ways.
hate having to be the late one(no spoilers havent seen that one yet) person. can you at least give your recommidations
Well, it all really depends on what you're looking for. The show isn't very continuity heavy. Do you mine tell me how far you are in the show
well the season opener/finales and the milestone episodes are pretty important but even those require you to watch a few episodes before that to fully understand the context and importance of them. I still don't understand what you're looking for.
you really don't need to watch it all just the ones you want too. you learn anything important through just hanging around other bronies.
yeah you don't have to watch all of it. you don't really have to watch it in order except for a few exceptions. I could break the show up into many Mini arks that are intertwined throughout the show, if you really want a "guide"
You can, if you don't mind missing world building, character development, and story details that often come up in later episodes. It's kinda like reading Harry Potter and skipping book four. It's like watching Star Wars and skipping Empire. It's like watching Doctor Who and skipping Nine. And you just don't skip Nine.

There is a fair bit of continuity throughout the series. With how far it has come, I don't think it's really possible to fully understand or appreciate that if you watch an episode from S6 then turn around and watch one from S2. I won't beat you over the head with spoilers but a good 25% of the episodes in the series' progression (especially past S3) need a fair bit of setup and context. It was hard enough to piece together when I started watching and that was just before S3 and only 52 episodes had aired.
