Silver pointed to a spot on Maya's neck. "Pinch the nerve here if the pain gets to be too much for her. It will deaden her hindquarters for a few minutes." He turned to Cricket and Winter, who were waiting at the foot of the bed. "You have both been through this. You know what to do." He then turned his attention back to Dusty. "Have you ever delivered a foal before?"
Dusty shook his head. "Not that I recall, no." Maya let out a loud screech. "WHY THE ACTUAL BUCK IS IT SO SOON?!"
"Yeah, I guess you're right. A birth should be nothing, though considering she's giving birth to an alicorn..."
Azrael shrugged. "She can take an alicorn coming in, so she can handle one popping out. Oh, was that not appropriate?"
"Heh. Old Az has jokes, too. Trust me, she'll be fine. The most devastating part of this experience will be the two to four weeks after, if you get what I mean."
Saber slipped into another room, and opened her little portal to the storage space in her mane. "I gotta have something thatll help..." She proceeded to use the screen at the end of a shelf. When she found the item she wanted, she tapped the screen again. A bright blue line appeared on the floor for her to follow. Saber followed it through the vast maze of shelves, and a parking garage that she took advantage of by getting a forklift. Faster travel, and easier if the box was on a high shelf.
Silver nodded. "Fine. Stay with her. Keep her calm. Guide her breathing. Help her with the pain when you need to. Cricket..." "On it." Cricket used her magic to massage Maya's back, trying to relax her for the birthing process.
"Well, in that case, if you told it, I guess all we'd be able to hear would be a bunch of "yay"s or something," he said. "Heard them a lot in the cellar."
"Maya." Dusty took her hoof. "We're having a beautiful foal, just like we wanted." Maya seemed to calm down a little bit, though she was gripping Dusty's hoof tight; if she had hands, she'd have broken his eventually. "Beautiful foal... Ngh! Beautiful foal..." The foal was pretty visible by now. Azrael raised an eyebrow. "What the *squee!* are you on about?"
"You hear that?" he responded upon hearing the censored expletive. "That "eee" sound. That's pretty close to what I've been hearing."
Winter put down clean towels and waited with Silver to catch the foal. "I see the foal," Silver said quietly. "You are doing well, Maya. Now I need you to focus on pushing. Skydust, do whatever you have to to keep her calm and steady her breathing."
"Breathe, Maya..." Dusty used his magic to steady out her breathing. "Our baby is almost here." "Get the kid out..." She grunted. "Thousand years. I wanna meet my baby..."
Maya heaved, giving one more push, the foal finally plopping out. What came out was a tiny alicorn colt. White coat, blue mane, and yet unopened eyes, screaming and crying from the shocking experience. "That's..." Maya gave a weak laugh. "That's my baby... my baby's alive! What do I have?"
