Let's do a quick one of these? Why? I want to get back to Star Trek. Rather fun.

I have always been a fond of it but it's only now that Star Trek has hit Netflix in the UK, that I've been able to dig into the whole thing and actually watch it from start to finish.

Well, Next Gen anyway. I've started at Next Generation because it's the version I know the most from watching it with my parents as a kid. There's a few things here and there I still remember from the show back then so it's neat to sew a proper continuity together.

For anyone that wants to tear themselves from Pokemon Go long enough to binge watch as well (and why not? The whole of Trek was added, even Enterprise), I'd recommend riding through the first season but look forward to Season 2 and onwards.

Season one feels like an updated version of 60's Trek but with this kinda robotic feel to all the characters. No one acts like human, in my estimation. They're all so rigidly diligent to their job or kinda, weirdly flat whenever they do express any emotion, that the show doesn't feel alive as a result. It's hard to describe but if you see two episodes from Season 1 and somewhere else in the same series you'll see what I mean.

I get that they're trained for everything but, come on! No one reacts to John DeLancey turning up dressed like Christopher Columbus with anything other than stiff inconvenience. No one comments, it's all so sterile.

Season 2 and onwards tries to add some humanity to the characters and it works so, so, so well. I love how far into the roles he's expected to play Data gets, even so much as to create a little pipe and do the voice. Worf's deadpan get's some laughs. Picard gets more animated and epic. Heck! I even found him dodging and diving out of the way of Councillor Troi's mother hilarious. Yeah, it's a little melodramatic but, it's able to have fun with itself sometimes and that kicks this show into something worth seeing. It's a mix of both science-fiction and slice of life stuff. It's neat!

But, yeah. I've been playing Pokemon Go too. Team Mystic, for the win. Also, I have an unusual amount of Drowzee around me for some reason. Why does a seaside town have an abundance of hypnotising yellow tapirs running around?

Isn't it obvious? No. It isn't. Seriously, are they fishing or do they really, really need a curry?

OK! I got Season 3 to finish and I'd like to get to Deep Space Nine within the week because Sisco is boss! And I actually like Voyager and Enterprise. Let's do this!

Here's an interesting topic: where does the line get crossed with Fan Projects in the eyes of Hasbro? They generally cool with stuff or are they kinda paranoid? And where does the law say things are OK or not? Thanks, @Sunset Prose!

Hasbro are putting out a new Discord and Fluttershy figure set. The catch? It's only available at an American con. Damn it!

I see there's another thread for 2016 US Elections started. Good, it needs to be discussed. I have a van-load of adorable pony pictures to throw in when things get too much. Don't worry. It's a big thing to consider.

Take it from the Brit: make sure you read up on this stuff before voting.

@royron32 has given us a tiny little animation to watch. It's kinda cute.

Pokemon Go thread, if you haven't found it already.

Seriously, this one app has been getting as much press coverage as the original gameboy games back when I was growing up. Maybe more so! Though, no one ever found dead bodies or walked into traffic playing Pokemon Yellow but they did cause violence when you're opponent spent the whole match spamming Psychic with their Lvl 90 Mewtwo, Geoffrey!

Lastly, here's a weird one: so MLP has been nominated for a Hugo Award. This is an award for Science Fiction and it's been awarded because of The Cutie Map. You'll remember it as the Season 6 opener where Twilight battles Starlight Glimmer across time. Y'know, my favouritest episode ever!

However, @Red Cedar poses it to be a bad thing because of the group who've insisted on it: Sad Puppies. They're a group who lobbies to get things voted on by the Hugo Award committee though they haven't the best reputation. Read up on it and see what you think? And whether you want to see MLP win.

A weird place for an award to come from but...All right.

And that's it. Now! I'm going to go catch a thousand and one Drowzee to make my new Hypno the most terrifying thing ever conceived. Plus, I might be able to bag a Pidgeot, Beedrill and Butterfree if I play my cards right. Happy hunting!

Seriously. Enterprise was so bad, their last episode is actually a TNG episode. And then watch Gargoyles, cause it is pretty much most of the TNG cast doing the voices (and it's good).

If I read it correctly. That's the original series that is going to be on Netflix. Or like an HD recreation... Not sure though.
