If your time to you is worth savin', then you better start swimmin' or you'll sink like a stone... For the times they are a-changeling... The Changelings, or rather, *a* Changeling, has returned to the Crystal Empire with a vengeance. And because the Crystal Empire is rife of love in the air, they're looking at a hefty feast... or so it seems. Anyway, thoughts? I was expecting a full-on return of the Changelings, but this wasn't necessarily a bad compromise. Decent episode with some funny moments. 8/10
I liked it, and it confirmed a lot of Changeling fanon and headcanons. -Changelings live in hives and hatch from eggs. -Chrysalis is (seemingly) the mother of the Changelings -Changelings can feed without harming ponies -Not all Changelings are evil, nor are they all loyal to Chrysalis So, basically, thousands of Changeling OCs were just given a huge boost in plausibility.
More Thorax, less Spike. Just in general, I mean. There are so many more questions to ask Thorax. They need to have him back so they can be asked and answered. I'm also seeing they could stick with their ST:TNG type stuff and have Thorax be like Hue (the Borg they saved). Send him back to the hive where he tries to change others and succeeds, but then things go horribly wrong.
I loved this episode, it was awesome! I also expected a more full-on changeling attack and thus was surprised that a episode with "changeling" in the title wasn't the finale. As Ridely pointed out this does make indeed quite some changeling fanons canon, which I personally find pretty cool. And yeah, a broader backstory to Thorax would be awesome but I somehow doubt that would happen... Also, omg a spike song o.o
It's something I like about characters that are viewed as general villains. The more than meets the eye aspect. I could see even in the preview that there may of been a battle interests in the mind of the changeling. While the instinct to jump on your meal is there, at the same time it does look like there is some personality outside being mindless drones. Which proves there maybe some truth to the hive mind thing, but also some truth to there being more diversity in the hive's drones as far as personality. Chrysalis is obviously exempt since we have seen her personality. I've already expressed my love for that in a gushing manner before.
Sensing some strong finale implications from this episode!!! So looking forward to seeing how this friendship pans out!!! Also, I'm pretty convinced that Thorax was the same changeling at Cranky and Matilda's wedding. Solid episode!! No tidbits I know of. Overall: 9/10!!!
Oh boy, Spike fans are happy right now. It's getting easier and easier to defend him. Not only did he stand up for Thorax at the potential cost of his reputation, he accepted that he would have died for his mistake. That is too cool. What a great episode this was. Props to that song too.
This was an amazing episode. It was great to learn more about the changlings. Thorax was likable, looking forward to see him again. I expect Queen Chrysalis won't be happy about Thorax betraying her. This was a lot better then "Goblet of Fire". And the song was just.......BEAUTIFUL! I kind of teared up a bit at that part. Overall I give this episode a solid 10/10.
Thoughts below in spoilers. This could very well be my final episode ever. Hopefully not though!! Spoiler Wow. To be honest... I'm not sure there's much I can say about one. That may seem like a bad thing, but, in all honesty, this episode may have been so good that there's just nothing to say. Let me start by saying that I, myself, have participated in a few MLP: FiM RP's that involved Changeling's that had sort of 'defected' from the Changeling Hive and we're actually 'good' (if you want to call it that) However... color me surprised to see something like this in 'canon' show format. The Spike antics were pretty good in this one. He certainly likes abusing his Crystal Empire 'hero' status. Which caused hilarity. I liked that quite a bit. Everyone freaking out and then they finally find out about the rumored 'Changeling Spy' or whatever. It was funny to see the guards actually listening to Spike. He's not even royalty. Even the guards look up to him? Not sure that's well placed... more hilarity though. So... Spike finds the Changeling and freaks out. Understandable. IT FREAKING SAVED HIM. The backstory... interesting I guess. I suppose it at least seems like it's trying. Though the hissing... I guess he can't control it, but, still... The birth of Changelings was... creepy... Spike tries to tell everyone and they all... act like he's a comedian but Shining Armor says it's not a joke. Things don't go well. So they try the Crystal Pony disguise. Um... wasn't that what they were afraid of in the first place? Spike's lie to Twilight... well done sir. Eventually though... he's discovered. They all chase him out and Spike can't do anything but tries to make it up to him. SAVED BY A CHANGELING AGAIN. WHAT. IS. HAPPENING. Let me talk about the song. Remember how I don't tend to like songs? But when they're good that's saying something? Yeah. It happened again. The part "darkness can turn to light" made me think of Kingdom Hearts. Reference? Who knows... possibly? One can wish I guess. The song was quite good. A decent Spike song and a decent song in general if you ask me. Yes. You all have lots to learn when it comes to friendship. But... I... I... just... *tempted to hit L.A. Noire 'Doubt' button* *searches for 'Doubt' button* *can't find it* I just... I really hope this isn't some devious plot. Seriously. I really hope it's not. But... I have this feeling... that it could be... Other than my worries that this is just a meticulously thought out villainous plot... AMAZING. P.S.: *continues searching for L.A. Noire 'Doubt' button* P.P.S.: If this is my last MLP: FiM episode ever... it couldn't have ended at a better place. Hopefully not though!! #NeverGiveUp
The Changeling at the wedding had a slightly different design, and has the canon name Kevin. (Thanks, M.A. Larson.)
That was a beautiful episode! Really crying right now. Also, that changeling is a TRAITOR! Yes, I got a Force Awakens vibe from that flashback scene. Just was amazing in the end. A real friendship lesson. Also, Flurry Heart is back for a few scenes. Near the end of Spike's song, you can tell the moment it won Starlight over, because her expression softens and then she looks sad for a moment. Awww... I'm sure that was especially meaningful for her.
Hey also I'm a little late to discussing this but I like the episode of thorax and Spike was an awesome dynamic between the two and Spike's first solo song that was also awesome and I hope to see more of thorax in the future
