Yeah but people interpret their experiences differently and come to different conclusions, as they can from research, it swings both ways fella's. That train of thought leaves no one with merit to their words.

Example to back up my statement, just look at how many life experiences get interpreted as the work of an invisible sky daddy, ghosts or aliens.

To interpret experience you have to have it. All Rid and I as asking is that if you're going to comment on American Gun laws that you live in the USA under the American Gun Laws. No ones saying you have to agree with us, but at least have the experience.

If anything I'd think that would create a bias in the conversation and take away what value it has.

And this thread isn't about america, it's about gun control, america just comes up a lot.

Because people can't have the same experience and think different things? Not everyone even has to have the same experience, all we're asking is to have experience. I doubt there are many people who have been held at gun point like I have.

Simplified example: Crusaders of the lost Mark. People watched the episode, some loved it, some hated it. I hated it. I haven't seen the show all the way through but from the episodes I have watched it seemed like it was poorly done. My experience gave me one opinion, other peoples gave them their own. I didn't see a huge bias in the discussion topic. What we're asking could be compared to simply watching the episode. All the research in the world isn't the same as actually watching the episode. I don't see how that would lead to bias one way or another because opinions will differ depending on how many other episodes a person has watched. But never watching the episode at all and commenting on it? How does that make sense?

Hell, I'm not even asking that you don't comment. Morphin's right, it is unreasonable to expect no foreign opinions on an international forum.

I'm just asking that you show a little respect, and don't expect your opinion to carry a lot of weight.

If that's what you think sure? Not my cup of tea though

Research and experience are both without merit by this train of thought, that because it might be interpreted differently without the whole picture means you have no right to speak on it.

That's personal bias which always exists, constructing the conversation in a way so only certain people have a say manufactures a bias in the conversation itself, two different things.

It doesn't, barring certain people from speaking does that

America isn't the only country with guns.

What Ridley said. Carry on talking about guns.

You can call that a joke, but the fact of the matter is that the material used in his comedy routine is in fact commonly used by gun ban and gun restriction advocates. That in itself necessitated their refutation.

Britain's "knife control" drive is laughable, but I suppose one has to give such politicians credit for being logically consistent when it comes to blaming inanimate objects for violent crime.
