"Yes, I supposed the part about the island sinking into the sea was ludicrous, but it might not be 'sinking' it could be a metaphor, for all we know."
"Or it could mean..." Avice began, butting into their conversation with a comical hint of mystery in her voice, "Atlantis!"
Ellia giggled, covering her smile with her hand. "I was never quite sure why Atlantis went into the sea," she said. "Was there a reason?"
"The gods sent fire and earthquakes and natural disasters, or so I've read." Avice replied, recalling some books.
"The gods are jerks," Ellia responded. She opened her mouth to speak, but before she could, Matalia cleared her throat. "Before we embark on our journey, we need to go to two different locations. First, we will be heading to Maydye. They have certain supplies we will be needing if the island really is under the sea." Her gaze swept across the crew as a groan rippled through the audience. "Secondly, we will be going to Quelien. This is where we will stock up on a more broader sense; food, blankets, et cetera, et cetera."
"I don't mean to question your authority, captain, but how ARE we going to get under the sea? For god's sake, we know more about the sky than the ocean!" Cobiah exclaimed. The whole thing seemed unreasonable to him, but if getting this treasure could further his goals, he would have to be a little superstitious.
Natalia nodded. "I understand your concern, Mr. Seatone. However, there ARE instructions; Turn, and turn, and turn again. Find the axle, find the bend. The moon be praised, and the moon be damned Relinquere Cito." She gestured to the boy sitting next to her. "Rhys has researched this part extensively, and he believes he has found the method, but I have asked him only to disclose this information to me. That is not to say that I do not trust you lovely people. Think of it as.." she hesitated. "A test of faith."
"So we're just meant to believe all this?... I mean i'm not doubting you," He said to Rhys. "But are we just going to believe some old fairy tail that could possibly be just some wild goose chase or maybe lead to something worse?"
(Ah! Sorry, y'all. I've had a really crazy work schedule lately. If you guys are still up for it, we can resume.) "Normally, I would agree with you, Mr. Rayne," Natalia said smoothly, pushing a dark lock of hair behind her ear. "But recent discoveries have found that not only is the legend possible, it is also plausible. Artifacts have washed ashore that are unlike any ones seen before. In the same area, large amounts of albumin and iron has been found in the water." She looked around in her crew. "That hints to large amounts of blood, like from a large heart of a monster." She cleared her throat and continued. "Not only that, but there has been a large amount of..." She paused for a moment, thinking of how to phrase her next words. "Abnormal circumstances in this area. There is almost no sea creatures under the water. They seem to have all fled from the location. However, on the very edge of the water, there seems to be an invisible perimeter, where a myriad of animals are dwelling." She sighed and slumped in her chair. "Mages in Edolier have reported their findings, and as we speak, many ships are being prepared for their long voyage. They will not get to our destination before us, though. We have quite the leg up on them."
Jared was still unsure but he trusted Natalia. If she was so sure the treasure existed, then why bother disagreeing with her. "Okay then. But if we get lost it's your fault." He half-joked
Cobiah nodded. "So we go to the center of this invisible circle, and we find the monster? Do we plan on slaying it?"
Natalia held up her hands in mock surrender. "If we get lost," she said, amusement tugging at her voice, "I will accept full responsibility." She turned to Cobiah. "According to the legend, the monster has already been slain," Natalia said. "That's not to say we will not bring necessary precautions, but the real crux of the mission is to bring back the gold and gems and rare artifacts that the kingdom contains."
(@Stuffy McPatch, @Proxy, @Starlight Speedster, would you guys be interested in reviving this? It'd be totally fine if the answer is no.)
