So I've played and completed the PS4 Ratchet & Clank remake as well as the Pokemon Sun & Moon Special Demo Version. I've moved on to Kirby Planet Robobot. Pretty fun so far.
I have to write an apology letter to the cop whose lies have made the last year and and a half of my life a living hell. And to another, who swore that the lies were truth.
It's called Pre-Trial Intervention. It basically means that if I jump through all their hoops, the whole thing gets taken off my record. Of course, none of this would be necessary had the cop TOLD THE *squee!*ING TRUTH in the first place.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of racially-motivated terrorism, either. The sad thing is, a lot of their complaints are legitimate. I think it's appalling that law enforcement officers, who are sworn to serve and protect, instead behave like a military force, executing people without trial and using military hardware to intimidate and attack civilians. That said, BLM fails to understand that police violence affects ALL Americans, and declaring war on white people is NOT the way to address the problem.
Okay, so I was just clicking through a "Funniest Posts on Tumblr" image gallery laughing my ass of and then it suddenly ended and goes into some kind of "Pictures of Tragedies" gallery without any *squee!*ing warning. Like, one second, I was looking at None Pizza with Left Beef, and the next second, there was an image of the Concorde burning before it crashed. *squee!*ing mood whiplash right there.
Plenty of trees get by with woodpeckers. For all we know, they're nature's ticklers or back scratchers to them. It takes more Crescents than you realize. America the beautiful, amirite? (You have my empathies, though. I've experienced dirty, lying cops as well.)
You know what? I seriously don't care if I get a warning for this. Because I'll take it. I WAS going to go back to Persona avatars... but no. Since apparently everyone has lost their common sense and are about to vote a bigoted racist in and pretty much allow World War III to happen... You get something else instead. Get ready... Because... It's about to REIGN.
Please, explain to me how voting Trump will cause World War Three. C'mon, let's hear it. I'm really *squee!*ing interested in how you're going to back that claim up.
Like Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump is a weak candidate. This is aside from the fact that the presidency is not an all powerful position. Assuming Trump wins Tuesday's election (this is definitely possible), he isn't going to have any major mandate (like Hillary, Trump is distrusted by most Americans). The truth of the matter is that many people planning to vote for Trump (yes, there are Neo-Nazis, alt-right types, the KKK, and other right-wing militants that support him, but they don't have any kind of mass basis in society) are simply going to vote against Hillary (many of those planning to vote for Hillary are also essentially simply going to vote against Trump). It will be interesting to see how high the abstention rate will be on election day. Donald Trump's presidency would quickly begin to unravel under the hammer blows of events. He would have to give concrete results instead of resorting to empty slogans like "Make America Great Again". The power of his personality would not increase living standards, and it isn't ruled out that a Trump victory could help tip the economy into recession (internationally respected business periodicals are certainly unnerved by the prospect of a Trump victory). We would be dealing with more of the same in terms of living standards under Trump, and it wouldn't take long for much of his support to evaporate as a result. Any sort of crackdown on Muslims would not pass constitutional muster, and deporting millions of Hispanics is logistically unfeasible (there are powerful business interests that benefit from illegal immigration, and let us not forget that Hispanics and their allies aren't going to idly sit by and let Trump walk all over them). As for a Third World War, again, the presidency is not an all powerful position. Some way would be found to remove him from power if he started escalating things in such a direction. Even in the highly probable scenario of Trump not starting WWIII, it isn't ruled out that he could end getting impeached before his first term ends. Some time ago, Jill Stein pointed out that many of the repulsive things Trump has been saying have in fact already been done by Hillary Clinton. Trump is a reactionary and a crass opportunist, but he isn't some all powerful figure. It is true that far-right ideology, misogyny, racism, etc. must be combated. However, a good deal of the fear over a Trump presidency are overblown.
I'm more concerned about Mike Pence and his support of Conversion Therapy. (Torture) Trump wasn't that great to me before choosing Pence, but after his pick, I can NOT have that man in office.
Pence is, in his own words, a "Christian first." Which means that the only stories he'll have ever heard about conversion therapy are the "success" stories told by proponents. There was, in fact, a study done in 2003 that indicates that conversion therapy works, and is often cited by proponents of the treatment. The fact that the study was later discredited, and that the author himself later apologized and admitted that his data was flawed tends to not come up.
You are defending Mike Pence. I am at a loss. No one here is going to sway one another in either direction. But wow, I'm no longer able to look at you the same way. Mike Pence should be distasteful to anyone who has a friend or even knows someone in the LGBT community. There is no further reason for me to say anything.
I'm not defending Mike Pence. I know he's flawed, just like Donald Trump is. I'm not defending Donald Trump, either. I'm not defending them, but I am voting for them. I'm voting for them, and in doing so, I'm defending my country against the dangerously corrupt pathological liar who I have absolutely no doubt would lead us to ruin.
Okay, sure, he may not know about the study being discredited, but ignorance is not a valid defense. If the intended effect of conversion therapy is to get the victims to kill themselves, then yeah, it works. Does Leelah Alcorn ring a bell? It is outright insulting to her, and any other victim's memory to let this practice resume.
It isn't like Obama has done anything serious to get "conversion therapy" banned (it should be a felony to subject anyone to such torture, and as far as I am concerned, and the Establishment Clause should be rigidly enforced). Do I want Trump/Pence in office? Obviously not. But Hillary/Kaine aren't going to be any better (a bisexual gun owner like me doesn't fit into the rigid categories). We cannot place our trust in any of these corrupt right-wing politicians (liberalism is "kinder, gentler" conservatism). We can only rely on our own forces, as daunting as this sounds (progressive forces with a rejuvenated labor movement at the center is probably decades away, but that is what's needed). Let us also keep in mind that the political clout of the religious obscurantists is waning. There is still a long way to go, but the rapid success of the marriage equality movement is proof that evangelicals are fighting a losing battle.
Yeah, either way groups that are often persecuted against are screwed in some way. As a trans person, I'd like to be able to carry a gun considering how scarily common attacks against us are. I'm a minor, however, so I can't exactly get one at the moment, and Hillary would still be in office by the time I'm 18.
