Trump openly boasted about groping women in that conversation (an ordinary person would be charged with sexual assault for doing such a thing). The private nature of the conversation doesn't get around the fact that he committed such acts. Would Hillary Clinton have gotten a free pass here if some private conversation of hers were leaked involving her engaging in illegal activity? And this is aside from Trump doing other things I listed above that make an explicit song a rather mild affair in comparison. When things are posted that essentially put forth a "give Trump a chance" approach, whatever Marissa Karisame or others would post in terms of Michelle Obama would look rather benign at the very worst compared to what Trump has said and done. Donald Trump also has a history of not expanding on his answers of how he can "make America great again".
Trump needs to get his paranoia in check. Him being this twitchy about his ego scares me. http://www.politifact.com/new-hamps...ump-claims-serious-voter-fraud-new-hampshire/ http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...-trumps-pants-fire-claim-millions-illegal-vo/
While I do have some compassion for illegal immigrants, I wasn't saying that their unfortunate circumstances should give them a pass. I was simply saying that the reasons for most of their actions is simple and understandable, whereas how our end handles things is over-complicated and stupid. And, while there certainly is a cap on how many new immigrants (illegal or otherwise) a nation can accept without detriment at a given time, the number we're dealing with is as detrimental as it is because of our country's own issues in addition to Mexico's. Unless the illegal immigrants hold a solution to their own country's problems, I really can't fault them. That said, what I'd like to see this country do as a whole is observe chapter seven, verses three to five, of Matthew. It really needs to address its own problems before undertaking anything else of significance. My hope is that it will include a revolution, because heaven knows, from the foundation up, that the government is rife with the accumulation of garbage. I'd like our country to move forward assured with the knowledge that it isn't an oligarchy or a corporatocracy. Now, I have to ask: when was America great? 'Cause excess and/or misplaced pride often doesn't lead to anywhere good. Overall, too, I think this country's citizenry should be more humble than they are, so long as it isn't to the point of being self-destructive.
Suddenly, religion. This is exactly what this discussion needed, and is likewise always the best solution to political issues. That is all.
Did you perhaps bother to look up Matthew 7:3-5 before deciding that it was irrelevant to the conversation?
This country was founded by Christian men, and based on Christian ideals. One cannot understand the intentions of the Founding Fathers without first understanding the core values of Christianity.
You mean the predominantly non-religious founding fathers that wrote in an explicit separation of church and state into your constitution? Research is important.
Yes, research is very important. For example, did you know that in 1973, historian Richard B. Morris identified seven men as the key Founding Fathers of the United States? John Adams - Unitarian (Christian) Benjamin Franklin - Complicated, but described the system of morals and religion taught by Jesus of Nazareth as "the best the World ever saw." Alexander Hamilton - Devout Christian and co-founder of the Christian Constitutional Society. John Jay - Episcopalian (Christian) Thomas Jefferson - Unitarian James Madison - Ugh, this one is tough. Attended Christian church services, but nobody seems to be able to pin down his exact religious views. George Washington - Christian, sometimes known to attend as many as three church services in one day. Now, as for that bit in the Constitution about the separation of church and state... I just can't seem to recall it. Think maybe you could post a quote to jog my memory?
Among other things, yes. What that means is that the government cannot tell you what religion you must follow. It also cannot penalize for following the religion of your choice, so long as your religious practices don't violate any laws.
And thus, we are back at double standards. Trump needs to say something to fire up media outlets and divert attention away from his dismal approval rating of around 43%. Indeed. I already proved previously that the United States is not founded on the Christian religion: https://www.everypony.com/threads/g...-transcends-titles.7131/page-2250#post-816796 Given where the fusion of religion and politics inevitably leads, it should be considered an act of terrorism to even attempt to mix the two of them!
There's a long history of your contentions being refuted with concrete evidence, and this thread is no exception. Writing off such things as "crap" doesn't cut much ice.
These aren't MY contentions, you pompous little weasel. These are documented events, statistics, and facts that just don't fit into your cozy little liberal worldview.
The vacuous nature of this post is made evident by its predication on argumentum ad hominem and a false dichotomy fallacy. Furthermore, I was not aware that The Constitution of the United States of America and the 1797 Treaty of Tripoli were simply figments of a "cozy little liberal worldview". Upon what concrete evidence could that contention be predicated?
Early Warning Signs Of Fascism Laurence W. Britt wrote about the common signs of fascism in April, 2003, after researching seven fascist regimes: Hitler's Nazi Germany; Mussolini's Italy; Franco's Spain; Salazar's Portugal; Papadopoulos' Greece; Pinochet's Chile; Suharto's Indonesia. http://rense.com/general37/char.htm
This list was circulated ad nauseum during the Bush years. Its chief defect is that it is composed of similarities that are broad and superficial. In spite of so many of such signs being observable in the US for a number of years, there haven't been any Einsatzgruppen, concentration camps, or mass arrests and/or executions of the regime's opponents (a far-left guy like me with some Ashkenazi ancestry would be a prime target). Fascist groupings exist today, but they are numerically weak (not to mention alt-right poltroons spew their vitriol primarily from behind a keyboard; they wouldn't last long saying that to people's faces). There is also no mass left wing movement in existence that threatens capitalist rule. As for suppressing the labor movement, the liberal union leaders are bought off and in bed with the bosses; the unions have largely been destroyed from within. Trump is weak and has no mandate whatsoever. These old "warning signs" may exist, but as was the case in the past, we aren't going to see the rise of fascism under this presidency. The balance of forces is quite unfavorable to the Wall Street oligarchy at this point. If they were foolish enough to try some sort of mass crackdown on dissent, it would provoke a major backlash and a sharp swing to the left (many are already headed in that direction as it is).
