Donald Trump is completely ignoring communications from the Office of Government Ethics. On January 11th the Senate will be holding confirmation hearings for many of Donald Trump's cabinet nominees, this will be very important news, but very boring. That same day Donald Trump "will" be holding his first press conference since asking Russia to hack Secretary Clinton more than six months ago, this will be very exciting news, but not very important. Even the most well-meaning news outlets will be hard pressed to cover both events adequately, which is exactly why they've both been scheduled at the same time. Odds are good that out of necessity they will be giving more coverage to the exciting Press Conference rather than the boring Confirmation Hearings. This is another of Don's twitter fight distractions, he's hoping that the hearings will skirt under the radar. http://money.cnn.com/interactive/ne...owley-plagiarized-multiple-sources-2012-book/ Another ridiculous pick. It seems that Trump has now done an about-face by agreeing with US intelligence agencies that Russia engaged in cyber attacks during the election.

Here is today's press conference. I really want to believe him. But actions speak louder than words and his choices for his cabinet posts are distressing.
I think one of the most interesting things I've seen so far was the confrontation with the CNN reporter at the press conference. Trump has made it pretty damn clear that he has no intention of forgiving or forgetting the role the media played in the election. Personally, I like the way that Trump uses social media to speak directly to the American public, rather than letting everything go through the media filter. It kind of reminds me of FDR's famous "fireside chat" radio programs. I think it's gonna be interesting to see how this plays out. It's obvious to both sides of the political spectrum that media bias is a dangerous problem for America, but I'm not entirely sure that I agree with completely shutting the media out of politics.
Please, show me the fireside chat that was used to belittle a union boss or to respond to a sketch comedy show that made fun of FDR. I do not like that analogy at all. The direct to the public fine, but the messages conveyed are COMPLETELY different and the two are and were used for very different reasons.
I'm not saying it's the same, I'm just saying that it has some similarities. I like a president that will talk to the American people as though they were friends or equals, rather than giving rehearsed speeches at press conference. Now, don't get me wrong, I understand that it's little more than self-promotion and propaganda in favor of his own agenda, but I still like it.
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/john-gore-hb2-trump-civil-rights-doj It gets even worse. The lawyer who argued FOR the HB2 bill in North Carolina (The "Bathroom" Bill) is now the deputy assistant attorney general for the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division. This is a bad joke.
Those of us targeted by Trump, Pudzer, Gore, et. al. still happen to be here. Hundreds of thousands turned out in anti-Trump demonstrations earlier today. Additionally, Trump's support base is going to disintegrate when many of those who voted for him realize that they won't end up getting jobs with livable wages and decent benefits (people were looking for a simple electoral fix to all of their problems...as was the case in 2008); it will be interesting to eventually see such people out on the streets as well against Trump. This administration is going to be a farce.
Argued for it. It doesn't say he supports it. He's a lawyer. It's his job. For the record, I do agree that HB2 is bull*squee!*. Transgender people have been using the bathrooms they felt comfortable with for decades, and as far as I know there was never any kind of incident.
Welp, net neutrality was good while it lasted. People in the US, get ready for slower internet at higher prices. Whee. http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/wireStory/report-net-neutrality-foe-ajit-pai-fcc-head-44935168
Not a good sign, but remember that he won't have final say on the issue. The vast majority of Americans, including a number of influential CEOs, want net neutrality to remain intact. Trump promised that he would return rule of this country to us, the citizens. This seems like a good place to start.
If you want to help protect Net Neutrality you should support groups like ACLU and the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Free Press who are fighting to keep Net Neutrality. https://www.aclu.org/ https://www.eff.org/ https://www.freepress.net/ also, you can set them as your charity on https://smile.amazon.com/ In addition, write your congress people (your House Representative, and both senators) old school mail. Be polite and firm that you find scrapping Network Neutrality unacceptable and it will influence your votes in the next election. Congress people take those letters more seriously than emails because the person who takes the time to write and mail a letter are the same people who take the time to vote. Then make sure you post to your social media, friends, and family and call on them to do the same.
The ACLU is the group that once fought to protect NAMBLA. I'll have nothing to do with any of them. I encourage others to avoid them as well. Free Press is too far left for my tastes, but that's just my opinion. EFF, from what I know of them, seems to be on the up-and-up. I've never seen them get political beyond what was necessary to carry out the group's stated purpose of protecting online rights. I mention this because, in my experience, the most effective political and social action groups are the ones that focus on a single goal. The more causes one group tries to fight for, the more people will end up alienated and angered by causes they don't agree with. The splitting of focus is the primary reason I abandoned the Occupy movement, which I was quite active in at the time.
The ACLU is about defending 1st amendment rights above all else. I appreciate an organization that tries to ensure that everyone gets to exercise their rights, no matter what their beliefs are.
Seriously, though. NAMBLA. A group of actual pedophiles. By defending NAMBLA, they defended a group of men who advocate for the single most despicable act imaginable. Men who are truly and irredeemably evil.
Doesn't look like we're ever gonna agree on this particular issue, but at least we agree on the importance of protecting net neutrality. So, moving on... How about the protests that have broken out in the wake of the election? Are they justified, or are they going too far? Also, a bit of irony: http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/l...ant-may-cost-70000-in-damages/article/2612747
