Well. As far as I see, I won't be able to even do that. Soon, I doubt I'll be able to leave, without assistance.
"Need a Five Hour Power?" Asmo asked. ~~~~~~ Navaja sighed. "You know, I demand double the payment when details like this are left out."
Th-that won't work. (Starting to struggle in order to talk, sends Architect's pen to a hidden location far outside the reach of anyone that would use it to harm before becoming too weak to stand)
Cannonball snorted. "Not unreasonable. We're definitely gonna be doing some renegotiating when we get back. For starters, you and Az are going on the contract. If I had known he'd already sent and lost a team, I'd have brought a dozen more fighters." *************************************************************************************** They brought the ship down a few hundred yards from the derelict vessel, and anchored it lightly. If something went wrong, they could be back in the air in thirty seconds. Cannonball watched the ship for a few minutes, calling out a few times. When no answer came, he decided to send a team to check it out. "Shady, you take point. Rain, go with her. There might be sick or wounded. Galahad, Gaston, circle above, watch their backs." Nightshade nodded. "Fine."
"What if it's zombies?" Navaja mused. "Does the contact offer undead pay?" ~~~~~~~ "You alright?" Maya asked, trotting up to Rep, concerned look on her face.
"Zombies are covered under standard hazard pay," Nightshade replied, heading towards the other ship. She turned back towards Az and Navaja. "You two coming?"
n-n-nooo. m-my energy was e-exposed when making the sh-shields and attempting to make the suit, a-and something over in that area grabbed it. (Points, shakily, towards the swords on the other side of the bar.) N-now, it's d-draining me.
Silver glanced at the swords. "These should have no effect on you, or anyone else for that matter. Not unless you were to be struck with one."
*A small shadow flits away from the area that Rep is pointing to, and for a brief moment a golden line is seen connecting it to Rep, before the line is no longer visible.*
Silver arched an eyebrow. "I do not suppose you could tell me what that was?" His ears flicked back and forth, scanning the room. Whatever it was, if it made any sound, he'd hear it.
Silver sighed. "That tells me nothing." He grabbed one of the swords and tossed it to Rep. "Grip the blade of this. Just for a moment. It should bind your energy to the sword long enough to break the connection between you and... whatever that is." It wasn't a permanent solution. Even a brief contact with the weapon would take a lot out of him, but it was better that the energy be pulled into the sword than into the unknown entity.
Silver snatched the sword up as Rep fell, looking for the creature that had drained him. If he acted quickly, he'd be able to use the energy-draining power of the blade to steal Rep's energy back from the entity. It would then be a simple matter to return the energy back to him. But first... where did the damn thing go? He'd caught a faint glimmer of a line when the connection had broken. It was worth a shot. Following the path of the now-broken connection, Silver charged with the sword at where he assumed the creature to be.
As they approached the ship, Nightshade brushed the snow away from one of the bodies. "By the gods..." Little was left of the unicorn below the snow other than a mangled skeleton. Tooth and claw marks were clearly visible on the bones. "Something ate him."
They didn't bother checking the other bodies, and boarded the ship. Nothing seemed to be damaged on the deck, but when they went below, they found the boiler in ruin Judging from the scorch marks, and the shrapnel embedded in the wall, it had exploded. Finally, they came to a door that had led to the captain's cabin. They could hear movement inside. Nightshade forced the door, and the four of them found themselves staring at a wild-eyed diamond dog. Her fur, unusually long for the species, was dirty and matted, and her muzzle was crimson with fresh blood. On the floor at her feet was the body of a pegasus, and she held a piece of the unfortunate pony's flesh in her paws.
Navaja instinctively took a quick step back, ready to pounce on the beast, but cringing as the scent of all the blood swarmed into his nose. Azrael gazed down at the dead pegasus, more curious than anything. Something didn't feel right to him, aside from the fact that a diamond dog was eating a dead horse in front of him. Surely one diamond dog couldn't do all this. He commanded, "You. If you're not feral, put down the mound of flesh and speak. Else, you'll be killed."
The dog put down her meal calmly, and wiped her muzzle. "You," she began, in a thick Budyonny accent, "You are rescue party, da?"
