"I never knew my mother. She died when I was young and my father never spoke of her. Either way, I don't think she'd be allowed down there either. Not even his highest ranking security personnel know what's down there." Cobiah finished his meal, and stood up. "If I ever go back to Edolier, first thing I'm doing is getting in there."
He squinted at her, but then his eyes widened as he realized. "Ohhh." Shrugging, he stood up and leaned over the edge of the crow's nest, but he paused. "You do realize that I'm the first mate, right? I have a little bit of dignity." * * * "Did you ever try before you left?" Jade asked, standing up too.
He sighed, and leaned back over. "CHUURCHHH!" he called, and immediately went back into the nest, his face red with embarrassment.
Avice laughed, putting a hand on her head. "Oh my gosh, you actually did it. I didn't expect you to after I told you the name."
"Despite what you just saw," he said, "I do have some honor." He leaned back with a groan. "Let's just hope they thought that it was a particularly vocal bird."
Avice chuckled. "Weird bird." She said, then twisting around and resting her head on her arms to view the horizon. She turned back, arms still lazily hanging over the edge.
"The weirdest," he agreed. He leaned back, stretching over the side and staring up at the sky. It was a bright pink as the sun sunk over the horizon. "We're going to have to go back down pretty soon for dinner, I think," he said, maybe a little regretfully.
Jack nodded in agreement. "Yeah, people come up here way too infrequently. It's my favorite part of the ship." He stood up and turned to go down the ladder.
He got to the area that he fixed, gave it a quick tug to ensure its strength and kept going. "Are you excited about going to Quelien?" he asked as they reached the halfway point. (Hey all! So here's what I'm thinking. Scarecrow hasn't gotten back to me about the RP, so I'm just assuming he's lost interest. If it's okay with everyone, I'm thinking of time - skipping through these last two towns to get back to the main plot after all the characters have gone to bed tonight. Does that work for everyone? Let me know, because this will probably be the last chance to have character development outside the ship for a while, and I am totally okay with going through a town. I just worry that the conversation get a little dry after a while. If you're the person who has already messaged me about very specific events that you want to happen with your character, do not worry! I haven't forgotten you! I have a plan. But if you haven't message me, I'm going to assume you're okay with the time change. Thanks all! <3 @Stuffy McPatch, @Starlight Speedster, @Proxy)
"Quelien? Oh yeah. Seems like the type of place that never sleeps." She laughed. "I'm just fine as long as it's somewhere new." (I'm okay with any time skips and stuff like that!)
"Open ocean is too dull for you?" Jack asked as his feet hit solid ground. He stepped back, and offered a hand for Avice to grab as she stepped off. (Lovely! Thanks!)
She took his hand as she got down, giving thanks. "Not dull, it just gets so... regular? I don't know a word to describe it."
(Yeah, that's cool.) Jared chuckled and hid the bottle of rum again. "So. Is there anything you'd like to say?" He asked.
"I know what you mean," Jack said as they walked towards the mess hall. "I feel like that may be the standard of human existence, though. We're creatures of thought, and so we get impatient with consistency sometimes. Our brains are begging for something to happen." He paused, suddenly looking embarrassed. *** Ellia laughed, crossing her legs comfortably. "You really don't get a lot of visitors down here, do you?"
"Not really, no. There's really no reason to come down here except cook everyone's meals. Did you know I have a special menu just for the captain?" He said, trying to get a conversation started.
Avice smiled. "Y'know, I think you're right. I mean, it makes perfect sense that the brain yearns for an irregular event or happening."
