"It was a tad strange, but he's got a very important job to do for the captain..." He explained. He narrowed his eyes though as he looked back at room 16. "I might stay down here tonight... just to make sure..."
She looked over at Natalia, then back. "I can only suggest that you talk to her. She does trust you the most, after all." She said. "It seems like a good choice to me."
She bit her lip as she looked back at him. "That doesn't sound very safe. And you heard what the Captain said. If you're caught after ten, they'll assume you did it." * * * He frowned, and considered Avice for a second. "I don't want to say that you're right again," he said eventually, evidently in conflict.
He purses his lips, and regarded her for a moment, and then sighed. "Avice: 2, Jack: 1," he said, standing up from the chair, and walking to go talk to her. He approached Natalia, and asked her a question. She looked at him, and shook her head, saying something. He cocked his head, and frowned, responding to her. She shook her head again, and shrugged hopelessly. He patted her on the shoulder gently and she said something that made him blush. He responded hesitantly, and she smiled. She shooed him away, and he returned, shaking his head. *** "Yeah," Ellia responded. "Although, I don't blame her. It's not something I would have expected to have happen on the ship."
"She says she has no idea who it is," he said in a low voice. "Everyone she interviewed today had a solid alibi. It looks like we're not quitting the partnership anytime soon." *** "Do you know her well?" Ellia asked, a little surprised.
"Not quite. We recently had quite a deep conversation and my opinion she's a nice person. It's strange for her to be our certain someone's first target..."
"It is weird," she agreed. "I mean, I know she had some people after her on the mainland, but she left them almost four years ago. It would be weird for them to be after her now." *** "Uh.. no, not really," he said evasively. "I mean... No, not really."
"She just really worried, that's all," Jack said, sitting down beside her. "I don't think she's taking care of herself very well."
She lightly placed a hand on his shoulder. "If I'm going to honest, I think you should just let it run its course and it'll all untangle eventually."
"What we should do is ask Jade who she thinks it was. If she has any suspicions about anyone, we can spy on them and see if she was right... or something along the lines of that."
He looked over at her, his brow furrowed. He considered her for a moment, and then smiled. "Well, you've been right twice now. I'll trust you." *** "That's a good idea," Ellia said. "I know that she didn't see who it was, but she thought they may have been male."
