She stood up, leaning on the rapier. She laughed a short, terse laugh, although it was hard to tell if that was natural or simply a reaction to the pain. "Yeah, that would probably good. Thank you for letting me use this, by the way."
"Yeah, no problem. It's just my practice blade anyway. The real deal is back in my quarters." Cobiah remarked. "So... I assume we head back to cabin now?"
"Yeah. Until the attacker is caught, we'll be staying in our partnerships," she said, tucking her dark hair back behind her ear.
"Well, I'll walk you back to your cabin. I believe mine is close by, so if anything happens, I should be there quickly." Cobiah said, making mental notes of the fastest path to her cabin.
"Thank you," she said as they walked. "Although, I am probably the person who is least in danger here. I have no doubt that the attacker could have finished me off if they wanted to, but they didn't. That must stand for something." They arrived at her door, and she gripped the doorframe and handed the rapier to Cobiah. "Thank you for your help today. I really do appreciate it."
(I wouldn't do this if we weren't on a roll, and I wasn't worried about losing momentum, but I'm going to say that if @Proxy doesn't respond by 3:00 pm PDT, then I'm just going to act like he went awkwardly silent, and I'm going to time warp us. Like I said, I wouldn't do this if I wasn't worried, but I really think we need to move on.)
(Ahhh, sorry! I was really looking to reply, but everything that could make me more busy right now is happening, but it's calmed down a bit. I should be good for a little bit longer.) "No problem. Keep the sword for now, I'll get you something better when we reach port."
(No worries! I hope everything is okay! Let us know if there's anything we can do.) She hesitated, and then grinned sheepishly. "Normally, I would refuse," she said, resting on the rapier, "but I doubt that I could make it to the bed without falling if I didn't have it, and I feel that I should protect whatever dignity I have left at all costs. Thank you." She opened the door with her free hand, and entered her room, turning to look at Cobiah over her shoulder. "I'll see you tomorrow, okay?"
"Can do." He said. "Get some good rest, I think you'll need it." Cobiah turned around, and began making his way to the cabin. Jade was a nice lass, he thought. Good conversationalist, too.
Jade entered her room, and closed the door behind her, latching it securely. She limped over her bed, and sat down, biting back a groan. She reached into her chest that lay beside her bed and pulled out her nightgown. It was white and thin with embroidery around the collar. She lightly touched the delicate needlework and thought of her mother. "You mustn't go to bed dirty, eidya," she said, brushing back Jade's hair. "Otherwise, your dreams will be spoiled and inharmonious." Jade blinked and sighed. She pulled off her shirt, hissing as the fabric brushed her wound. She pulled her nightgown over her head and gently lay the rapier next to her in bed as she slid under the covers, shifting so as to not lie on her back. As soon as she was slightly comfortable, she fell asleep. (I'm going to assume that Proxy is now ready for a time warp! Here we go! We have gone through Quelien and Maydye at this point, so we are now setting out to our final destination! We have been traveling along the coast for a while, and the destination is just off the coast north of Maydye. I'm heckin' excited.) The ship drifted through the water as they departed. They passed an old, abandoned pier as they picked up speed. Natalia, with her hands on her hips, gazed out across the ocean as they sped along, and she pursed her lips in thought, pulling her cloak tighter around her. The coordinates of Fawelore were difficult to find, but with Rhys' help, they were able to figure it out. They were as far north as any explored had dared to go. A feeling of excitement settled in her belly, and she stifled a smile. (Meet up with your partners, and we'll be there soon.)
Avice settled below deck, her head poking through the one of the windows that dotted the sides. Her hair rustled in the cool breeze, and she squinted at the few droplets that hit her face, occasionally wiping away the globules. Sticking her head back into the ship, she lay across a cannon stretching her back lazily.
Jared took a swig of his rum before heading above deck, hiding the bottle in his pocket. He put his hand in front of his eyes to stop the sun from blinding him. after his eyes adjusted to the light, he put his hand down. "Where is Ellia?..." He murmured to himself, looking across the deck. He walked over to the side of the boat and watched what little Maydye remained visible.
Jack sighed and he stacked the last bit of the clerical work that Natalia had assigned to him. He stood up, stretched and yawned, and headed out to go find Avice. When he got below the deck, he saw her lazily stretched out over one of the cannons, and cocked his head in amusement. "What exactly are you doing?" * * * Ellia hopped down the last rung of the ladder from the crow's nest and scanned the deck. Her eyes landed on Jared, apparently deeply in thought, and she came up next to him, leaning on the side of the boat. "What are you thinking about?"
"Obviously. I hate to disappoint you, but you're not doing very well with that," Jack said wryly, coming up next to her, and grinning. "We're pretty close to the entrance, Natalia thinks. Want to go up to the deck to look?"
He took her hand and pulled her up, his fingers deft but strong. He held on for a moment, and then let go. "Come on, we don't want to miss it," he said, turning away self-consciously.
