He laughed softly, walked over to her, and turned her around to face him. "Weenies are more than good enough for me," he said kindly. "But you need to go lie down now, okay?" *** Ellia sighed tiredly. "You're hard to have conversations with sometimes, you know that?" She closed the spyglass, and frowned at him. There was humor to her tone, but also an edge, and confusion and she shook her head, frustrated. "I can't possibly imagine what you think about all the time if you're unable to find beauty in other living things. It completely perplexes me."
Avice nodded, looking up at him dotingly. "Alright," she said, her voice was quiet and uneven as she went back to lay down.
He brushed the hair off her forehead, something he never believed he would be able to do, and smiled that shy smile. "Come to the deck when we get through, if you can. Sleep in the meantime, though."
"I'll try," he said, rubbing the back of his neck. "Come out when you can." He squeezed her hand for a moment, let go, turned and walked away.
Once he was Avice covered her face with her hands, grinning madly. Whether it was embarrassment, excitement, or surprise, she was unsure.
(lol same) Jack left and stood with his back to the wall outside of the infirmary. He paused for a moment and took in a deep breath, staring at some invisible point on the ceiling, and then grinned, shook his head in disbelief, and pushed himself off the wall and almost skipped back to the deck.
(Based off of how I inwardly reacted hehe. Now, to wait for the others to post.) After a few moments of silence celebration, Avice calmed down. It took a few more minutes for her to fall asleep, with the aid of the painkillers.
(You and me both. I might end the creature attacks after the Dobhar Chus, so we should be ready pretty soon.)
"I just don't like the vicious sea monsters that could possibly murder us." Jared said, closing his own spyglass. "And since we're so close to our goal, I don't want anything to do with them."
Ellia considered him for a moment, her hands on her hips as she squinted her eyes at him. Pursing her lips, she turned to look back out to the sea, and she cocked her head. "That fog up ahead is not clearing. It's like a wall." (Impatient bump? We're waiting of @Proxy and @Starlight Speedster )
Cobiah squinted, trying to see through the fog. "Not sure if I can get a good hit through this fog, captain!" Cobiah announced, aiming down the sights of the rifle, hoping to get a clearer picture.
Natalia squinted out into the fog and frowned. "No matter, Mr. Seatone!" she said finally. "We just need to all attack them at once." Quickly, she lined up various sailors, each armed with a rifle that contained explosive ammunition. "The goal is to hit them all at once before they can call for backup," she instructed, holding her own rifle. "We need to wait until they get close enough and all fire at once." She paused and focused her rifle. It was hard to make out the creatures through the gloom, but she thought she saw a slight disturbance through the fog. "Aim for the mouth and the ribs, if you can. If I recall correctly, there's three of them, and we need to kill all of them." She scanned the water, her eyes narrowed and her brow furrowed. "Steady..." The creatures were under the water, and getting closer. "Aim.." Their heads were just barely visible, and they opened their mouth, their teeth sharp and gleaming. "Fire!"
"I assume we will be going straight through it..." Jared said, flicking through the book. "I must say... this book is extraordinary. How long have you had these?" He asked, inquisitively.
Cobiah pulled the trigger. His aim was true, and the munitions went straight into the mouth of the creature. Many other sailors also made their mark. A brief -click- could be heard from the tumultuous water, as the ordinance inside the Dobhar Chus detonated, sending viscera into the tides.
"They were Natalia's," Ellia said, gazing at the book affectionately. "I think they came from her family." *** "Excellent shots," Natalia praised, but she kept her rifle raised as she peered over the wall of the ship. "Stay alert now," she warned, turning to face the fog that was coming closer and closer. She gazed at it stubbornly and then called out to her crew. "Hold your breath when going through this fog, people. The entrance should be on the other side. We're almost there!" The ship was submerged in fog. Everything was white, a dreariness so potent that one couldn't see the side of the ship. It had a thickness to it, and if one pulled their hand through the air, the fog would clear momentarily, only to rush in to fill the vacuum. And then they were through, and the ship was still. There was no breeze and the water was a dull black, like tar. The fog they had just came through was like a dome, covering an area of many miles. There was complete silence except for the creaking of the ship and those on the deck.
Jared was still. After a moment he looked over the side of the crow's nest and saw the black water. "What is this sorcery?" He asked, genuinely confused.
Ellia gazed over the side, and frowned. She drummed her fingers on the side of the crow's nest and then took the book back from Jared, and returned it to its store box. "Come on," she said gently, sensing his intense confusion. "Let's go down to the deck."
