Well, it seems to have leaked early, so absolutely everyone has had a chance to view it by now. My thoughts on the episode? Eh... meh. I thought E4 was better. I felt like the help Fluttershy recruited was unrealistically dickish, and I wasn't quite feeling the stakes of an animal sanctuary (Honestly, that's what the wild is for.). It was cool seeing Fluttershy put her hoof down, though, stand up to the ponies that thought it was cool to do the opposite of what she asked because reasons. Eh. You've seen it by now. What do you think?
I can confirm that engineers like to "guide" the building owners towards what they think will work best, but that's usually because building owners are idiots and prioritize aesthetic over functionality or even safety. I've never heard of an engineer totally ignoring the plan. I liked this episode. It was nice to see the meek little pony we've all been watching for so long finally realize her dreams, and to see her finally really stand up for herself.
This episode felt a lot like Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000 to me in that Fluttershy didn't technically learn anything. She more or less displayed what she HAD been learning over the last several seasons which made for some nice commentary on her development. Not a bad episode but nothing about it really reached out and grabbed me either. And really, the only thing I would have changed about it would have been having the "experts" actually learn something from it. No tidbits for this one. Overall: 4/10
Yay for yet another viewer discretion!! Oh wait... Spoiler Not much for me to really say about this one. It was unsurprising that Fluttershy's 'dream' involved animals. Honestly... the problem was a little predictable with the help from ponies the Mane 6 knew. But I liked seeing Fluttershy being assertive correctly this time instead of the previous incorrect way. I also kind of liked the 'lesson' for this one. That being that when you strive for your dreams make sure you do it your way and not the way of what so-called 'professionals' think is the better way to do it. Either way I kind of liked this one. Pretty good honestly. Current Status: Stay: 40% Leave: 60% Not good enough for a 20% increase to stay but good enough for at least a 10% increase to stay.
Dear Princess Celestia, Today I learned that verbal contracts are worth the paper they are written on. I will now get things in writing with a public notary present. - Fluttershy
Yeah, so do I. I get why they quit doing it, but at least they could have kept up the journal. Or, you know... showed Twilight writing to Sunset about what happened.
The legal system in Equestria is the same as in the Land of Conquest: non-existent. I don't think they have lawsuits, or even lawyers, in Equestria. (btw, the Land of Conquest is the place where most of "Mortal Kombat Conquest" is set.)
There was an article on EqD some time back that talked about a first draft of the "Rarity Investigates" episode. It was originally supposed to have Rainbow Dash go on trial, and there would have been a lawyer pony called Due Process. Ah, found it. It was part of an interview with M.A. Larson. Before I was asked to story edit, I wrote an episode called "The Rainbow Confession." It's the only episode I've written in four seasons on the show that was killed. They took the premise and turned it into "Rarity Investigates," which is why my name is on that one, even though it really shouldn't be. My version of the episode used the same premise, but it was much more like LEGALLY BLONDE with Rarity in the Elle Woods role trying to prove Rainbow Dash's innocence, despite being completely out of her depth. I thought it was a pretty funny episode, and a nice character piece between Rarity and Rainbow Dash, but DHX wanted to take that premise in another direction. So fans will never know the joys of a poncy lawyer pony named Due Process or hear Tabitha St Germain say, "What's the matter, Mr. Prosecutor, can't handle the truth?"
