Social Sciences, focus on history and economics, with minor focus on psychology, sociology, and geography. And a teaching certificate minor
A.D. in General Studies for me. Would've gotten one in Computer Networking as well, but I had too much debt accumulated by that point to get any extra loan money.
As Im going to be a teacher, I can get my student loans wiped out after paying for 5 or 10 years as a government employee. However its doubtful I'll be able to use it as Trump wants to get rid of it or severely weaken it
I think I can pay off mine reasonably quickly, because of CompSci related jobs pay very well. Also, scholarships.
I'm just trying to get my five years in as a mechanical insulator. Once I have the experience, I can work pretty much anywhere in the country, and get a job fairly easily. Seriously considering Alaska. I hate the city so much.
I wanted to go to a university and follow it up with law school, but I never bothered with it. The job market for attorneys is oversaturated, and chances were I could have accumulated a mortgage-sized student debt (not to mention spending seven years of my life in school), only to end up working in a menial job unrelated to what I studied. Who you know is also often more important than what you know; my history of high academic performance would have followed me into law school, but it is questionable if it would have given me an edge over my peers. I did end up learning the HVAC trade in a technical college later in life, but the market for skilled tradesmen is also saturated these days. I did get hired as an HVAC mechanic/service technician after struggling for awhile (I applied at quite a few places, and most of them won't touch you with a ten foot pole unless you know the right person and/or have 5+years of field experience). However, I earned a paltry salary, had lackluster benefits, and unstable work. It was far too much stress for far too little money, so I ended up taking a job as a maintenance mechanic in a governmental building. The maintenance and repair work (basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC) is more rudimentary than what I trained for, but I do earn a livable wage and outstanding benefits backed by a union contract. Not to mention I am guaranteed full-time hours throughout the entire year. The student loans I have won't take me decades to repay as the ones from university and law school would. It is a shame that the law field is saturated though, as I would thoroughly enjoy utilizing a strong grasp of legal theory, logic, and reasoning to take down racist, anti-Semitic, homophobic, etc. employers, landlords, and such in the courtroom. And let's not forget about going after employers who retaliate against whistleblowers, those who report OSHA violations, etc.
Where should I start? It's crowded. It's dirty. It's noisy. Anything natural is carefully trimmed and landscaped to 'acceptable' aesthetic standards, or just cut down and bulldozed when it gets in the way of "progress." Police patrol every street to keep the people under control, and the lights burn all night. I can't even remember the last time I saw the stars. Wild animals are either a novelty or a nuisance, depending on whether or not they're "cute." And if they're a nuisance, they're doomed. People don't talk to each other. It's hard to develop a sense of community when you have a million neighbors. Everything costs more, and somehow is still worth less. There's no sense of pride in ownership in the city. Everyone just wants more, and better. And it's just so chaotic. Nothing ever stays the same. Progress is pushed for the sake of progress, and nobody stops to think if it's for the best. The past, the people's heritage and soul, means nothing! Move forward! Tear down the old, the historic, the beloved! The people need a new mall! But most of all, I hate the city for what it represents. An abandonment of the peaceful, community-oriented lifestyle, and the values that come with it.
I visited my dad today and brought my pups along. Great day, everyone had a good time. On the way home, I stopped at Dairy Queen for a Blizzard and I asked if they still have ice cream for dogs. They do. I asked how much for two small ones. They said they give them out for free. DQ, you made the end of the day even better.
DQ is awesome. Did you try the Awesome Mix Blizzard they put out for Guardians? That *squee!* is AMAZEBALLS.
I dont think Ive ever had anything but Blizzards at Dairy Queen, and even then only like once a year or two
I can't remember the last time I saw a DQ. There was one in town years ago but it's a friggin' mom & pop's auto parts store or something like that.
At the moment, it's fixed term, but they're keen to take me on permanently if I fit in well. This assumes I don't get my Masters Scholarship. The main objective will be translating a program from one language (C++ to C#) to another to allow it be on mobile and other devices because at the moment it's only on Windows.
