"Oh good. You're gone have to deal with it for a long time, cause I'm immortal, obviously." She patted his shoulder is sympathy. "I'm sorry for the loss of your free life."
"Oh, you're immortal now?" he asked, his eyebrows raised. "Does that mean I can stop worrying about your safety?"
She nodded. "Definitely. Though, you shouldn't have worried about me in the first place, even though you didn't know I was secretly immortal."
"Well, since I'm under your spell, I don't imagine I had any other choice," he said, raising an eyebrow. "When you care about someone, you worry about them. That's kinda the way it goes."
"Darn my powers. They're too good." She sighed, frowning. "I'll have to figure out a way to fix that."
"You could just not put yourself in danger," he suggested, taking her hand as they walked. "That would solve quite a few problems."
"Assuming I'm not in danger," she began, "probably means I'm bored. Besides, danger is everywhere, and it's inevitable."
"So I guess I'll just keep worrying," he said. "Immortality or no. Worrying is a skill that I have excelled at in my lifetime, and I'm not eager to lose it."
"I can't say I'm as good as worrying, mostly because solutions are easy to find if you're good enough at winging it," she explained, brushing back her hair.
He reached into his bag and pulled out the painting that she had made of Urela. "Certainly not," he said, passing it to her. "You excel in plenty of areas."
"I bring it with me almost everywhere," he said blatantly. "It makes me happy, and I see no reason to leave it in my room where I can't enjoy it often."
A grin crossed her face. "That's good to know. Knowing that makes me happy," she said, giving it back to him.
"Good to know," he said, returning the painting to his bag. "Sounds like we have a mutually beneficial relationship." The Nevean Chambers were dark and as the woman turned to look at the group, her eyes glowed. "Each chamber has two rooms," she said. "A viewing room and a Transmission room. Who will be going first?" Natalia raised her hand. "I will." The girl studied her for a moment and then nodded. She waved a hand, and a faint glow came from in front of them, illuminating an archway. "Very well. Please step into the Transmission room." Natalia took a deep breath and stepped through. There was a deep grinding noise, and the archway was covered with a large stone, locking her in. "The rest of you will be allowed to watch," she said as a feathery screen descended from the ceiling, and faint lights illuminated it, showing Natalia in the center of a gloomy looking hallway. Natalia's expression was unreadable, and her body was tense. "Her first trial she will have to overcome will be anger." The woman tapped the box on her neck. "Are you ready?" The voice must have spread to the Transmission room, because Natalia nodded. "I'm ready." (@Proxy and @Starlight Speedster, this is going to be a huge backstory reveal here. Y'all ready?)
Jared walked at the back of the group, he was in a bad mood ever since Natalia's proposition and needed some distance from her. He was okay with the offer but her refusal to pay him her debt there and then was what got to him.
Ellia had been walking with Penelope, a young woman no greater than 19 with tattoos that curled up her back. However, she noticed Jared's sour disposition and excused herself before walking over to him. "Good morning, Jared," she said pleasantly. "You seem particularly bitter this morning."
