(the episode was leaked, therefore I feel it's OK to make this thread) Daring Do has decided to retire! To find out why, Rainbow Dash has enlisted the help of none other than Pinkie Pie! Can Pinkie Pie discover the reason behind Daring's retirement? And what secrets lie in the treasure of Sonambula?
Just when I thought Treehouse was gonna knock it off with this crap!! But yeah, you're in the clear, NSM. Anygoo, so Daring finds out that not everypony is a fan of her handy work. Or would it be "hoofy" work? Moving along, wasn't too hard to spot Caballeron under that hood early on. He's so easy to hate. Also, we finally get to see the giant sphinx and Somnombula herself!!! Loved how they integrated an art style that married MLP to ancient Egyptian wall paintings!! And of course, you can't go wrong with a Daring Do episode. Glad she's got her groove back!! Don't have any tidbits. Overall: 8/10
This episode was predictable as all hell, but still a fun ride. My biggest complaint is that Rainbow Dash, the pegasus badass who fought off dozens of Changelings, kicked a dragon in the face, and can break the sound barrier in level flight from a full stop... wasn't able to fight off a D-list villain and three goons. She didn't even try. What the hell was that? Still, nice worldbuilding, and a new creature is always cool, even if it was just in a story.
Please don't tell me I'm the only one who caught the parallel of the controversy with A.K. Yearling/Daring Do and the real-life controversy with J.K. Rowling. Mostly decent episode, much better than the other episode Gillian M. Berrow wrote this season, Fluttershy Leans In. That may have something to do though with how Daring Do is very familiar territory for her. After all, she writes the Daring Do books in real life. Favorite part was the story with Sonambula, even if it might have played a part in the rushed ending.
One quick note, the Legends of Magic comic with Somnambula does indeed take place after this episode.
