"You used half your power and lost to a pony using all of hers," Nightshade snapped at Az. "And you know damn well Raven's become one of the best fighters around these last two years. So maybe grow a pair?" ******************************************************************* Blackout opened the door and led the group down a long flight of stairs. The Night Guard Auxiliary Armory and Depot (official designation: Installation NG-435/B) was an impressive structure. A fortified underground warehouse, it was six hundred feet wide, three stories deep, and ran under the town of Hollow Shades for almost half a mile. Built with the purpose of equipping an army should Canterlot ever fall, it contained just about every weapon and armor type imaginable, so it was highly unlikely that anypony coming there for equipment wouldn't find exactly what they needed. ********************************************************************* Silver nodded. "Ah. Space science. I see." He understood very little of what Edmond was saying. Equestria was a society built on magic, and the science and technology he'd encountered in his time in space was still somewhat strange to him.
Edmond: (Chuckling weakly) Yeah. Accurate description. Tell me you didn't trash my sword? I activated its EPP before hibernating. Selena: (whistles at the amount of weaponry and armour that is in the armory) You weren't kidding when you said armory.
Silver shook his head. "We found no sword in the pod, but we have not thrown anything away." *************************************************************************************** Nightshade nodded. "It's our third biggest, after the one under Canterlot and my dad's personal arsenal. There's an inventory list in the cabinets over in the corner, or you can just look around. Take what you need. Whatever you need. We get one shot at this."
Edmond: Alright. Just don't throw the sword away. It might look like a tree branch, don't know. Been a while since i saw it with the EPP active.
"I had inhibitors on, too," Raven pointed out. Asmo bapped her in the back of the head. "You're not helping!" "Worthwhile arsenal..." Azrael stepped forward with the rest of the group to have an extended look around. It looks like he blew off Nightshade's comment.
Selena: Huh. There's one under Canterlot, neat. (walking over to the Inventory list, and scanning through it, looking for a certain piece of tech.) Hmm, I wonder if there's one here, hopefully but I kinda doubt it. Rep: (Opening his eyes at a flicker of energy in the strange place he had been sitting, and quickly searches through it for any quantum signature of where it came from, and found what he had been looking for, before transmitting his consciousness along the quantum link he had found, letting his physical form evaporate into the singularity)
"'Worthwhile?'" Nightshade snorted, slightly offended. "I helped put this thing together. It's fantastic. Every weapon you can imagine, and quite a few you can't. Hell, if you'd had access to this, maybe you wouldn't have beaten up by a little girl." ***************************************************************************************************** Blackout raised an eyebrow and backed away, wandering over to help Selena. "Nightshade has been putting together a collection of off-world tech since right after Godsfall. Won't tell me where she gets it. It's in the back, near the armor crates."
Selena: (Walking to the back and continuing to look carefully for something, still not stating explicitly what it is.) Edmond: (His cybernetics start beeping, setting off a relatively minor medical alarm)
"You know what," Azrael snarled, turning to face her. "I still beat you. Scarred you. Broke every bone in your body. So what does that say about you?" "Clever goad," Maya commemted quietly. Raven silently mouthed "Keep it up," to Nightshade.
Nightshade laughed. "Yeah. You almost killed me. But's that's the difference between us. What doesn't kill me..." She shifted into her draconequus form, towering over Az. "...makes me stronger." Her tail shot forward, the venomous barb stopping under Az's chin. "What doesn't kill you," she continued, leaning in closer with every word, "Turns you into a sniveling. Little. B*tch."
Azrael didn't flinch at what was evidently supposed to make him flinch. As she finished, he gave Nightshade a frankly disrespectful slap in the face. "If it will get you to shut the hell up, then you've got your damned rematch!" The group went dead silent at the slap, wondering if the situation would soon explode.
Nightshade smirked and returned to pony form. "Ah. There you are. Now if you're done wallowing in self-pity, grab a weapon and let's go murder your brother and whatever's left of that snake."
"My brother will cease to exist. And I'll do it with my bare hooves. And if you keep testing me, you're next."
Nightshade shrugged. "If you say so. We'll find out eventually." She headed for a rack of spears, and finally selected one that crackled with a strange electrical energy. "This weapon is called Lambent Viper. It has a lightning-type attack enchantment, and more importantly, it can diminish or even negate flame-based attacks."
"Got two of 'em?" Raven asked, approaching the spear rack herself and looking it over. "I could totally get down on a spear like that." Maya picked herself out a sword that felt appropriate. A scimitar, glowing with an ice enhancement. For added protection, she also found herself a bright set of solar guard armor. Navaja found a set of replacements for his hidden blades. They looked the same, but were at least twice as sharp as his already sharp standard blades. They would also have a magical property that would lessen the noise he made while walking. Asmo grabbed a spare set of Night Guard armor and swallowed the entire set, apparently storing it for later.
Selena: (routing through a box of stuff, muttering) Come on, come on, have one... Edmond: (coughing a little bit) Rep: (zipping along a quantum path, both in the black hole, and at his destination.)
Nightshade shook her head. "It's one of a kind. Why don't you take it? I'll find something else." *************************************************************************** Silver stood aside to let Dr. Nidel deal with the alarm. "It's some sort of cybernetic implant," she said after a few moments, "I'm not familiar with the tech."
"You're the best, babe." Raven smirked, taking the spear and holstering it under her wing. Asmo sauntered up to Az, patting him on the back. "So... you good? Of not, I'm sure an epic battle'll whip you right back into shape." Azrael nodded slowly. "Yes, Asmodeus. I am good." ~~~~~~ Meanwhile, back at the bar, Dusty was entertaining Moondust, telling him the kid-friendly story of Q The Dung Beetle. After a while, Dusty gave a long pause. "...I don't think this is a foal's book."
Staal entered the medbay to inform Silver that they had dropped out of hyperspace and were in orbit above Equus. Silver nodded. "Very well. I will guide the pilot to our landing zone." He glanced over at Edmond. "This is Edmond, an old acquaintance. He is not a threat." Silver headed for the bridge, while Staal remained in the room with Edmond and Nidel. *********************************************************************************************** Nightshade eventually settled on a golden halberd called Gilded Avarice. Forged in the shape of a bird in flight, it was deceptively light for its size, and carried a powerful enchantment that absorbed the life force of its victims and transferred it to the wielder.
