As the newest edition of the Starswirl Music Festival begins, the Dazzlings return, having been depowered and turned human after the events of "Rainbow Rocks"! But before Sunset Shimmer can focus on that, she gets caught in a time loop, forced to relieve the first Starswirl Music Festival over and over again! Can Sunset Shimmer escape the time loop so she can rejoin the Humane Six in this year's Starswirl Music Festival?
There's going to be fan art of Sunset smashing an alarm clock while Sunny & Cher's "I've Got You Babe" plays, just you watch. >^_^<
This special felt very...meh. The plot was meh, the villains were meh, it was overall pretty meh. I expected a lot more. The villains never felt threatening, and honestly I would have preferred if it WAS the Dazzlings back for revenge, since they are otherwise wasted in this special. Even the whole idea of the time loop is never taken as far as it should., Hell, the "Mask" cartoon show did a lot more with the idea!
In other words, it's something I can look forward to next month. Nice. >^_^< If what you said about the time travel thing was true, it's probably just as well that they dumbed it down from the novel the special was based on. The idea of reliving the same day for a year is, to me, nothing short of nightmarish.
Not a bad little special. However, kinda bummed that the "special with the Dazzlings" that Equestria Daily hinted at a while back had them religated to more or less a cameo. Was expecting them to have more of a main antagonist role but it seems like they kinda got the Jared Leto Joker treatment. Anygoo, I enjoyed the heck out of this. You won't hear me say this often but I felt really bad for Pinkie. Thought it was pretty cool that Adagio, of all people, was the one that told Shimmy what she needed to hear. And then, the feelz kicked in with that ending. Overall: 7/10
