I've been hearing lots of crap about. Do you Believe it will happen? Why or Why not? If it does are you scared to die? Are you? Its 12/21/12 Right now in some places, not here, but its the 21st some where on earth. Why hasn't it happened if it's the 21st now some places?
Well we already have 12/21/12 here... i still feel alive and there are no signs of comets, zombies, fire or explosions around... I still feel good and dont have the feeling of dying yet. I dont believe it will happen...but...hm... The day is not over yet, so who knows? But seriously... i dont think anything will happen.
^ Is a New Zealander and therefore cheated. The whole 2012 doomsday prediction is a buncha crap lol. It's even more hilarious when you factor in that the ancient Mayans and Chinese who supposedly predicted it didn't account for leap year in their calendars. So those calendars don't end in 2012 like the media is spouting--they already ended years ago.
You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright light, feeling pretty psyched! IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT...IT'S THE...oh....sorry about that. I'm hearing that song everywhere.....apparently that's the plus side to the apocalypse. Unless I see Q'uq'umatz or some other Mayan god descend from the sky, I'm not going to go crazy yet.
If the Mayans predicted the world would end on the 21st, you should go by their timezone. That said, I don't believe a single thing of it.
they didn't have to account for leap years because their system was a bit more accurate we get leap years because at the end of the year there is still another few hours before we have actually gone all the way around the sun, their mesurments don't have that error
Because today's scientists don't want to acknowledge that ancient natives of a land of stone have better maths than they do.
Oh, I was wrong. The Mayans didn't track their dates relative to the solar year at all the way we do. They named and numbered their days in base 20 and a cycle on their calendar was equivalent in length to 52 Roman years. 12/21/2012 is just the end of the last ~5125-year Long Count cycle, where the first day of the cycle is the same-named day. Kinda like how 1 January is only on a Monday every seven years or so, so if we had a Long Count calendar it'd be seven years long. Still, the Mayans never did say the world would end at the end of their calendar, they just said, well, it's the end of their calendar. After that it starts over. They even have names for the cycles that happen after today, so they didn't plan on any apocalypse.
Apocalypse time again and I am going to the countryside, weird thing is, I was also there last apocalypse (the Harold Camping one). However, it is not set in stone just yet, just have to wait until the end of the day and see if there are any christians around, for a potential rapture scenario. And if I find that just the WBC have disappeared, I will just give up on the universe and join the antichrist.
YAY, TIME TO DIE!!! No but seriously. This scare is just like the "End of the world prediction" on May,21,2011. I have no Idea where some get the vigor to give the Mayan predictions such omnipotence. Could the reason for it be that they "disappeared"? No, they didn't, seeing as they exist even today. Sadly, people have the lame-brained ideas to give power to the littlest of superstitions.
Please Close this thread, since it is now the day after the 21, its different in other places but please close this.
