We've got some highly explicit songs on the radio. Art Attack - I Need That General Mumble - More Than A Chicken And more. Our beef with this concept is this: These songs depict explicit themes, have crude language, and overall have very suggestive/sexual themes. We think that some of the younger members of the site don't need to be here for this, however, we do realize that some of these songs are indeed popular with the users of the radio. So do you want us to remove these songs? Or should we keep them? Poll ends in 5 days!
I am also on the idea of being more family friendly. Then, there could be a happy brony family, and a long chain of members! (What, I cant dream?)
can't really decide, at 1 side, children nowadays get bombed with such, just look at the tv and radio, at the other side, this should stay family friendly though, so i say remove them, and make an example for the rest of the world
I have nothing against a few bad words in songs, except for the really obvious ones ofcourse. Think of what songs are being played on actual radio stations. They don't exactly censor their songs, and ANYONE can listen to that. My opinion: Only remove the songs and other media with the really obvious lyrics.
I'm for removing the songs. This is a family friendly site, and I'd prefer that all aspects of the site reflect that, as it says in the rules. We need consistency. It's not about preference as far as I'm concerned. I don't really mind the songs. I don't like them, but I don't mind them being on a radio. Just not our radio, since our rules should not allow it.
I think we should keep them. Most of it is innuendo, and there are no cases of them actually saying directly what the song is about.
1. this places need to be more kid friendly 2. there enough songs that people think are good cause it has curse words in it
In terms of explicit lyrics... I'd say take them out. A lot of the popular songs, that I know of, aren't explicit and the ones that are rarely get played and/or requested.
If you listen to the two songs in question... you'll find that the last part of your second sentence is sorta false.
Well... the people of the radio have spoken. I voted based on the knowledge I knew of them when they originally brought up the problem with 'explicit' songs. If it's possible to change my vote from "get it off" to "keep it"... that'd be nice, as a radio staff member... I must speak for the peoples.
I voted keep them. For several reasons. 1. I do not know the full list of songs to be removed. You should never sign a contract without reading the fine print, so to speak. 2. A lot of popular songs that are probably not on the list contain explicit or semi explicit lyrics, and I doubt anyone has raised an eyebrow about it. The ArtAttack remix is more explicit than the original Pony Swag, but even the original contains explicit lyrics. Even the song Griffin Village - Summer has innuendo if you're paying attention. I'm guessing those songs won't be removed however, so where is the line drawn? Who decides? Everyone is different in terms of what they deem explicit, so the only way to be sure EPR is completely family friendly would be to remove all the songs with questionable lyrics. Which would probably be a lot more than 18. 3. Like someone else has already said, I doubt most people notice or care about the lyrics anyway. If they are too young to be listening to curse words, then they are probably too young to even comprehend innuendo, and possibly too young to be on the internet anyway. 4. I like those songs and I like listening to original content. My 2 cents.
Before any song is deleted, we will compile a list of every song that will have to go. I'm almost certain another poll will be created so you know exactly what you're losing.
Hang on... DOH! Its too late to change my vote XD I just realised that One Trick pony is explicit ._.
^ This. I am fine one way or another, but as a DJ of the radio it is my job to find out what the people want. Since I was fairly neutral on the subject, I found out what the people wanted. It's my choice to speak for them while they speak for themselves, at the same time.
why not do what other radios do and just attempt to get censored versions? or at the very least keep a time scale for the general idea of when the younger listeners might not be on.
They're almost always on, plus the wide range of time zones will make this impossible. For the last half of your statement, that is.
