DuckTales and Rescue Rangers. Most of the good 80's shows are either still around or have already been redone.
Seconded on the Duck Tales thought. He-Man could use a decent reboot. I seem to recall that there was a more recent version around when I was a kid, but if we could get a cool, complex children's cartoon that didn't just further weird stereotypes about maleness but actually had something to say about it and took us on a neat trip through a unique world of danger and adventure, that would be great. And while we're on the subject of reboots, what the heck happened to the new Thundercats reboot? I saw it on TV for a while and then it sort of seemed to drop off the map. Also, it's not a TV show, but Ralph Bakshi did a couple of movies that I seem to recall came out around the eighties that used a technique called "rotoscoping" which involved filming live actors and then animating them into the movie. I'd like to see a revival of that unique style, it's a shame it seems to be neglected by mainstream animators.
The Thundercats reboot got cancelled because the toys didn't sell. The series ended on a cliffhanger that will never be resolved because they cancelled the show.
I would be nice to see Duck Tales in action again~ Though I rarely watched in my childhood since I was born on the edge of the 80s but of what I do vaguely remember was awesome~ Though DO NOT get me started on the new Thundercats Reboot. I was not particularly fond of it. It started out looking promising but it turned to crap so fast that my digestive system was jealous~ But all gags aside, I lost interest fast. Though what Ridley said made sense to why it stopped but, it maybe because the new thing turned out to be abomination. I honestly would rather watch the old Thundercats cartoon. Not to mention that Cartoon Network lately has being going through a huge period of crap so think that it would be hard to cut through. Adult Swim is about the only redeeming thing to that channel anymore. I tried giving Adventure Time a chance... big mistake.
Man, that's bogus. I look fondly on Adventure Time, although it's not my cup of tea. The new Thundercats reboot had its moments in my eyes, particularly the references to the space battles in one rather exciting episode, but other than that I just don't think it had much time to mature and develop. A lot of the episodes felt like filler, as opposed to real story-driven conflict. I watch Rick and Morty on Adult Swim, but that's about it. There aren't many shows on television I watch frequently: some news and Game of Thrones (and, admittedly, a LOT of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia). The thing is, I feel like people give Cartoon Network a lot of crap right now, but most of those feelings seem like residual hate from when CN tried its "More Than Just Cartoons" shtick (advocated for by Andrew W.K., of whom I have grown rather fond). CN will never be like it was, but that's alright with me. I remember the glory days of Toonami, but other than that, present-day CN isn't all that different from the CN of my childhood. They still show a similar mix of new-age cartoons with up-to-date styles, although I do miss Yu-Gi-Oh on the weekday afternoons; I always got a kick out of that. Nothing will ever be liked by everybody, but sometimes it's just a case of live and let live.
Fair Enough. I'll admit a lot of live actions shows are what mainly killed it, but I personally see a lot of the recent cartoons as not as good as the predecessors. I did give Adventure Time a chance, I just ended up liking it less. Though admitably, I did watch part of a Steven Universe episode. Admittedly, Steven Universe's set up that episode took me off guard. I was expecting some dumb kiddish crap, but what I got ended up interesting me, showing some darker tones I didn't foresee to be used. Though Uncle Grandpa, alternatively, is more or less an abomination. I cringe every time I hear "Good Morning!" I guess I have bad hatred to what Cartoon Network has become than the shows themselves, though some of what is aired shows no interesting factors to me. When Gumball comes on, I only watch it for the parts that are slightly funny. Though I don't watch it like I use to. It just kinda got stupid. The last truly decent cartoon I watched before it's full downfall was Chowder, though I know others may disagree~ I have pretty much given up on Cartoon Networks as a whole. Steven Universe was about the only thing to legit surprise me. I may give a better look at it later. As for Pokemon. It's a beaten horse anime series that hardly anyone cares to watch anymore, again I maybe wrong. This is just how I feel about it. As for Adult Swim, I love Family Guy, American Dad, Rick and Morty, Metalocolpse, ATHF (Aqua Teen Hunger Force), and the list goes on. The thing is, a lot Adult Swim has taken my interest much more over Cartoon Network. I maybe just closed mindedly shutting out the new gen stuff, but half of it just really doesn't look go to me anymore. Adult Swim has had it's far share of crap but it's been mostly controlled. Nothing they couldn't recover from. Hell I avidly watch Robot Chicken. That stuff is funny as all hell.
You're not alone alone in liking Chowder; I have a deep, childlike sense of appreciation for that show.
I concede to that~ Steven Universe actually took me of guard. On the surface if kinda looked dumb to me but watching just one episode of it did change my thoughts on it. Though I did watch it in pieces, the close to end of the said episode having my full attention. What took me off guard was the dark tones. I just ended up saying "holy *squee!*, this is dark". Truthfully, I'm thinking on actually looking into the series as a whole. I've just not got around to it. It's funny as hell. It's one of those shows that could make you laugh, but also wonder what's going on~ The names for food were weird and funny. Some of the food was living even. Though what takes it is the chief and his assistants Shintzel and Chowder. His wife Truffles was cringe worthy but in that way where she was still watchable as a character, not to mention the voice was funny as hell. That's Tara Strong for you~
The Four Horsemen He-Man was pretty good, and the toys were awesome. He-man and Adam looked completely different. I'd love to see a reboot of MASK or Jem. I'm not looking forward to the Jem movie.
