the ponyville orphanage had run out of funds and was going to be closed down. however, two orphaned fillies were determined to keep it open. there was a rumor 'round town that deep in the Everfree forest was a great treasure. and so, Kala and Taffy slipped out of the orphanage at night, and each snuck to the edge of the forest. It was there that they bumped into each other, and it is there that our story begins.
"Wah!" Taffy cried, colliding with a purple shape. "Oh, Ah'm so sorry!" Taffy exclaimed, picking herself up and apologising to the shape. "Ah didn't meant t'.... Wait; Kala?" She squinted through the darkness, and recognised the Purple pegasus as her eyes adjusted. "What are ya'll doin' here?"
"Ya heard about that too?" Taffy asked, sitting down and rubbing her head again. "How can Ah be sure you've not jus' been sent out t' bring me back?" She asked, a little suspicious. She knew Kala from the orphanage, but they'd never talked that much, and unlike Taffy, Kala never got in trouble with the ponies that ran the place. She thought she could probably trust the pegasus, but she had to be sure; this mission was too important!
"I care about the orphanage. I don't want it to close!" *Kala looks offended at the suggestion she would jeopardize such a mission*
"Hmm..." Taffy's face scrunched up in concentration as she studied Kala for a couple of seconds, before deciding she was telling the truth and smiling at her. "Well, alright!" She said, happily, "D'ya wanna team up?" She looked back at the forest then blushed a little. "Ah don't really wanna go in alone..." (You don't need to use the asterisks in RPs; the quotation marks differentiate between speech and actions/descriptions, so that's all you need :3 )
Taffy smiled and shook her hoof vigorously. She sighed happily, then looked back at the forest in front of them. "Um, Ah don't suppose ya know where we should start, do ya?" she asked, a little sheepishly. She'd set out with good intentions, but no real idea where she was going.
"Oh, yeah!" Taffy said, excitedly, "Zecora's real shiny!" She'd only met the zebra a few times, but she always thought her incantations and potions were more imprssive than unicorn magic. (Always okay with adding zebras! )
"Hey!" Taffy cried, running after Kala as fast as her short legs would carry her. Once she'd caught up, they were in the forest itself, and out of sight from the town, so Taffy rummaged around in her saddle bags, and produced a small brass lantern. She pressed a button on the side, then looked much happier as the flame inside pushed back the darkness of the forest a little.
Kala pulls out a lantern of her own, as well as several matches and flasks of oil "ok! let's find zecora" she said, and then glided further into the forest
The forest around them was full of strange noises, and outside the reach of their torches, Taffy thought she could see eyes watching them... She shivered slightly, and made sure to keep up with Kala. "So what do ya know about the treasure?" She asked quietly, as they walked along. "Ah heard it was the abandoned hoard of some dragon, vanquished by some long ago knight..."
"Yeah. It's supposed to be filled with gems and expensive statues" Kala scrunched her face as she looked into the shadows "I'd heard the Everfree Forest was creepy, but I didn't realize it was THIS creepy"
Taffy nodded in agreement. "Yeah... but then Ah guess that's why nopony's found the treasure yet; ain't no pony been brave enough," She puffed her chest out a bit. "That's gonna be us though!" She declared, grinning, just before tripping on a root, falling on her face, then covering her head with her hooves. "I surrender!" She cried, shaking a bit.
Kala smiled and shook her head "that wasn't a monster. you tripped." She said as she helped you back up. "now come on. we've gotta find Zecora!"
Taffy blushed as she was helped up, and looked around. "Um, yeah... Ah knew that..." She said, embarrassed, before continuing on. Before long, Zecora's hut came into view; the door was shut, but the lights were on, so Taffy knocked on the door.
