I understand that some times rp needs to be allowed to develop on its own but from what ive seen and heard there is no real limitaion or ground set in which to create a solid equestria in this world. alicorns running rampant wild allegations of identity. it leaves me feeling concern for the rp chatroom. I am a veteran rper of 14 years and i am merely stating all this as a concern not trying to lay down an iron fist its not my place. but i notice a lack of structure and development its all kind of chaotic. I would like to see what ponies are thinking please don't think i am attacking anypony im really not but i have suggestions.

This has been a concern of mine, as well. I don't really frequent the RP Chat at all, but from what I've seen, I know these concerns. RP is not my forte, but you can contact Rashall or Tyro The Fox if you want to discuss this more in depth.

I just sorta leave the RP chat alone... I'm pretty sure most of us down in the basement just leave that alone for that particular reason. The RP chat room is random and hard to get into, so we just stay down in the forums where it's warmer.

If you're an avid roleplayer, you could always come down here with us. We'd love to have you!

Because we don't force people to RP a certain way? The chats are more for fun and laid back. The RP Forum section is more formal and serious. Pretty much what Jhera said.

It would probably be best to talk with our RP moderators for more info, Tyro The Fox, and Rashall.

and i very cleanly agreed that i would like to tal to tham more about it.
there is a casual rp chat which is agreeable the the standard rdp room is being treated in a similar fashion. certainly i dont want to ruin everyones time but its not fun to everyone when everyone is creating an alicorn who is all powerful. there is a balance and thats what i ment by moderation :)

I am one of the chat RPers and we have two RP chats for a reason. If you want to plan and structure an RP and make it a little more 'srs bzns' style, you use RP. If your like me or Sparky and just want to mess around, Casual RP. If you want RP structure to the max, you use the forum RP. When my stupid ban ends be sure to join me in chat.

To be fair the site does cater to a lot of RP needs, if you want a random adventure, go casual in the irc chat, if you want structure and a solid storyline with proper approved characters, use the forum version. Both versions are fun to somebody.

I don't really use the RP chat much myself so I can't really comment much on improvements for that...

The irony is. The RP'ers in chat force people to go by their standards.

Exactly; in the forum roleplays, standards are set by the GMs. Chat roleplaying doesn't have any appointed GM, so the users must all agree on SOMETHING or nothing would ever happen.

I dunno... on one hand, people enjoy doing what they're doing already. But to others it can tarnish the experience drastically.

    I'm 50/50 on this really.

Didn't we make the second RP room so we'd have at least one for the more serious RPs?

I think what's happening is that people are seeing it as 2 RP rooms instead of a serious RP room and a casual RP room.

I get what you're meaning, Bolero. There are those who seem to create alicorn OCs with no idea about what they are doing, forgetting to add any general weakness, making it overly powerful and often playing unfair. For some, like moi, it can drastically lessen the experience. Which sucks.

Apart from Tyro and Rash, i'll be in for a conversation surrounding the RP chat, just mention my name in the GD and there's a good chance i'll pop up out of nowhere.
