I've seen countless bronies say that they would hypothetically go on a date with one of the mane six. As enticing as this might sound, (taking into account that "[insert m6 pony here] is my idea of the perfect girl!" and ignoring the bestiality issues,) the mane six of MLP: FiM have to be the worst fillyfriends that you'll ever have. By analyzing each of their personality traits and attitudes, I can say with a reasonable amount of certainty how each date would go. Twilight Sparkle: "Y...you want to do something else? But...It's not on the checklist. Oh, can't we please stick to the schedule? This won't do at all. This movie was much longer than expected. We can't go to the restaurant you had planned, it's too far away. I know you've already made and paid for reservations, but we've got to try and stay on schedule. I know! if we keep our time spent eating down to a minimum, we can dine at the Arby's across the street, and get right back on track." In short, an organized mare like Twilight would want everything planned out ahead of time. Having been with a girl who has done this, I can tell you that it was not an enjoyable experience. Everything I wanted us to do together was immediately shot down to make room for what was already planned. Applejack: "C'mon! Up an' at em! Them apples ain't gonna buck 'emselves! Ah know what time it is, now don't go ah sassin' me! We apples are up bright 'n early! A lil' hard work never hurt nopony! I ain't a gonna let ya shirk out on this! I 'spect mah coltfriend tah be able tah keep up wit' the rest o' the family, an' buck like an apple would!" A farmgirl, who's all about action, and managing the family farm. I've worked on a farm for about two hours before, and I couldn't keep up with the farmhands who had worked there their whole lives. Farmhands are busy people, and hardly have any free time of their own. And trust me. At the age she seems to be at, she's gonna assume the guy she's with is gonna be with her forever, and take her away to marry her. Sadly, this isn't the case with most relationships today. Logically, if this were the case, then she'd treat her coltfriend like a member of the family. If somepony got to dating her, he'd better be ready to keep up with a full day's work, twelve to sixteen hours a day, seven days a week. Eeyup. Rarity: "Now now dearie, a lady absolutely cannot leave the house unless she is completely fabulous. I'll be ready in an hour, dahling. Oh, but your outfit simply will not do... I'll have to make you an entirely new one. Wait right there and, your hair! Something must be done about your hair." The entire date would be spent at Rarity's, getting ready for the date. 'nuff said. Fluttershy: I doubt she would say much throughout the whole date. Personally, I've been with a girl who stays quiet, and... It was boring. Conversations are one sided, and nothing happens. The girl just sits there and looks pretty. She might as well have been a trophy. I'm not trying to diss Fluttershy, but a date with her wouldn't go well, and likely, wouldn't end well. Rainbow Dash: "Today is gonna be so awesome! If you can keep up, that is! *laughs* I've been workin' on some new stunts, they're sure to let me in the Wonderbolts this time! I hope you're enough of a pony to keep pace!" OR "I'm bored. This 'date' isn't as exciting as I had hoped! I'll tell ya what we're gonna do! We're gonna race! You and me! What? Whaddya mean 'I don't want to!?' What's wrong? You chicken!?" Rainbow Dash is really competitive, to the point that she'd want a coltfriend that could possibly rival her skills. And a lot of people aren't superathletes, like Dash seems to be. Not only that, but she's gonna be the dominant one in the relationship. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but many guys may be afraid of getting 'whipped.' And chances are, if you're a guy, you would like a girl who isn't as aggressive. Pinkie Pie: "This is going to be the most funeriffic splendawesomely bestest day ever! Oh, I'm so excited, I could just throw a party! Of course, I'd invite other people! What? Well, parties are supposed to be fun, and dates are supposed to be fun, too. So I figure 'Hey why not make it a date-party!' Or would it be called a 'party-date?' A 'parate?' 'Darty?' Nah, that sounds too much like dirty. We aren't dirty, that'd be silly! Almost as silly as that one time I thought my friends didn't wanna be my friends anymore! I should've known better, right? Well, duh! Of course I should! I mean, it's not like my friends are jerks, and they would never do that to me! Then this other time, I was talking with this one pony I knew, and..." Your date would be crazy, and likely, not a date at all. Furthermore, any conversation you'd get in would be one sided, because you wouldn't get a word in. I don't know about you, but by the time she'd be finished talking, my ears would be bleeding. Thoughts?
No, mine! Competitiveness would be awesome. I will compete in anything, for any reason. Also Ace you forgot Trixie.
Well, Fluttershy and I would go perfectly together. We wouldn't even have to talk, we'd just chill. However, FlutterWind is already canon p), so I got nothing to worry about!
I need competition to be the best and Dash is the best, so yeah, Mine. I'll take Trixie as well, the more the merrier.
Nah, I already claimed her. TwiDRD, DRDRD, TwiDash are canon. :derpe: You can keep your Trixie though. *Or share RD.*
Oh, I agree with you - I just come to a different conclusion. =P Seriously, you do have a point. Also, maturity wise, they're supposed to be 12-17. That's jail bait for me.
All girls are crazy. All guys are crazy. Everyone has a bit of crazy in them, it's just about finding someone who's crazy works with your crazy. Like finding the right puzzle piece in the box. I'd still try a date with Fluttershy, I don't talk much either, so we wouldn't go to a place where face to face conversation is the focal point of the date. I'm thinking a nature hike. That's IF ponies existed and IF I was a pony too and IF they weren't jailbait and all the other IF's that need to be true for this to happen. Which shouldn't really need to be clarified in a hypothetical situation/fantasy like this...
I know a real life Pinkie Pie, both sides of that coin, even. Anyway, as young as they're supposed to be, I'd like to point out that all, but Rainbow Dash, have a job, career, or education they're involved in. Even Trixie has a career. I'm curious if Celestia is nepotistic for Twilight, though.
I dated a Farm girl once and it did not go well. It was just like you said, I had to just follow her around and watch her work. She didn't nessecarily ask me to help. Cause I wouldn't know how to, but she was a bit crazy like Pinkie, She would talk constantly about things I had no interest in. She would walk around with a severed kangaroo leg, it grossed me out. It's almost like I was the girl in the relationship. I am a lot like Fluttershy/Twilight and I had a crush on and tried to date another Fluttershy/Twilight. She rejected me, she may have been lying but she basically said she wasn't allowed to date cause her parents wouldn't approve and she was a goody-two-shoes, who got some of the highest grades at school. She believed any distraction from her near perfect grade point average would be wrong. I tried to continue to talk to her as friends, in case she would warm up to me, but we were so awkward around each other, the conversations would last 20 seconds before it went into awkward silence.
I never look at MLP in a perverted nature. I look at them all as friends and wouldn't date any of them. I'd prefer hanging out with them individually or together, but definitely not a date. Even if I was a pony, the answer is still the same. My favorite personality of the 6 would be perfectly in between Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy. Fluttershy needs more confidence, while Rainbow Dash can be too competitive and cocky.
If you're going to dig, dig for diamonds. So I'd choose Princess Celestia as my first pick. She is older, more mature, wiser, and probably can't be too surprised by just about ANYTHING. Second pick, Luna...of course. Similar desirable characteristics plus an apparently overwhelming need for a hug and some kind words. I can do that!
By the way, I'm not a misogynist, I don't hate women. I'm just jaded when it comes to romance, and I have a very pessimistic view on relationships of any kind. I want to make that clear, because one could infer that I hate the opposite sex from my post. Just an F.Y.I.
