I was just wondering what everyone's opinion on MLP analysts are. I like one in particular, the AnYPony, but that's about it. BronyCurious (or Tommy_Oliver apparently now) and Digibrony were fun to watch during the off season to explore the themes of the episodes and created headcannon but watching them review each episode in S4 is getting pretty annoying. They just nit pick the episode to kingdom come and it ruins the experience for me. I was so pumped about the Castle Mane-ia episode and loved it but then BC came out with his impression video and was all like, "WTF? THERE WERE SPIDERS AND THEY DIDN'T ACKNOWLEDGE THEM AND PINKIE BEING THE SHADOW PONY WAS SO OBVIOUS!!!" I know what your saying, "If you don't like the videos, don't watch them" and that is what I plan on doing now. I will keep watching the AnYPony because I find his videos funny and he has more of a general opinion as appose to anylizing to the tiniest detail and using big "I have an English major" words. I know I am just rambling now but this has just been on my nerves and wanted to let it out. I will probably start watching analysts videos when S4 is over because that is when they are best but for now I am done. So what do you guys think of analysts?
I'm something of a nitpicker myself, and find it quite fun to overanalyze certain aspects of the MLP universe. However, I'm not the type of person to let my own nitpicks ruin my enjoyment of something; I had about a thousand-and-one nitpicks about EqG, but I still enjoyed the movie overall. That said, I also find it irritating when some folks, whether "official analysts" or ordinary fans, let their nitpicks bar them from enjoying something for what it is. At the risk of sounding like a total hipster for defying the prevailing opinion on se03, I actually thought it was quite good (yes, even Magical Mystery Cure). Was it necessarily as strong as the seasons that preceded it? No, but it was still anything but bad IMO...and yet I still encounter people who say it isn't worth watching at all. Can't say I'll ever understand such people. For the most part, I think the general response to se04 has been highly positive so far, which is refreshing to see, but I'd be lying if I said I haven't run into a few insufferable people who whined endlessly about this, that, and the other highly inconsequential thing that happens in the new episodes. After the opener aired, I saw this one member on another forum who wouldn't stop making status updates about how "rushed" she thought it was, to the degree that she couldn't enjoy it at all. I'm not saying people aren't entitled to such opinions, but they aren't entitled to rain on the parades of everyone who wasn't bothered by such nitpicks in the least. For this reason, I've learned to stay away from most YouTube MLP analysts; even Digibrony, who I generally like, has said quite a bit of stuff in the past that made me stop and think, "...Why does that matter? Why should that matter to, like, anyone?" I guess the best course of action when dealing with these types is inaction - just enjoy what you enjoy, and if anyone out there wants to let one tiny issue ruin an episode for them, so be it. They're the ones who'll lose in the end, being frustrated with episodes that the majority is perfectly happy with. As they say, haters gonna hate. ...On that note, I just watched Daring Don't and thought was a positively awesome episode. Have at it, Digibrony!
I normally don't let nit picking get to me to the point where I can't watch something, but Amy on Big Bang Theory did burst my Raiders bubble for sure! hehe, but yeah analysts constantly get too full of themselves and can usually just go screw!
I have a bit of an over-analysis doohickimabobber that comes on automatically. I have to deactivate it when the plot lines start to clash before my brain overheats.
