I know this is a video link but I want to discuss the show more in general. The show in question is MAD! if you haven't already clicked on the video link. It's a War Horse parody they did with obvious My Little Pony reference, even bronies. It's on Cartoon Network and plays during kid watching times but it has so many cultural references, I don't how a kid would keep up.

I fell asleep with my TV on Adult Swim last night and I woke up with an episode of MAD! about to start. I decided to watch it because I remembered the video above and would look into how the rest of the show is. I was shocked at just how many references there are to things I don't know how kids would know. There was a parody of Rise of the Planet of the Apes with an original Planet of the Apes reference. They made of Zookeeper and Kevin James in that context. There was a Great Grape Ape reference in there and more I can't remember. There was a Smurf parody. There was a poltergeist reference inside a Ghost Attourney mock commercial with references to Ghostbusters, Scooby-Doo and more I can't remember. There was a Wheel of Fortune parody. There was an Apprentice parody with Donkey Kong and Mojo Jojo. And there was even more that I can't even remember. Oh and a Dragonball Z parody inside a Moneyball (the movie) parody.

All these references are way too much for a kid to keep up with especially all the things made before they were born. So what are your thoughts on the above video and this show if you've seen it or if you haven't watch a random episode for context.

MAD is, in my opinion, a pretty cool show. They have done a few hings that I thought were truly funny.

You wanna know about a kids show on the Hub that I think is really funny? Dan Vs. I actually fell in love with the show and its characters after the first episode I ever saw. I'm going to start watching it regularly.

MAD isn't for adults. It's more geared toward teens who are active on the internet and pay attention to memes and whatnot (so basically everyone). It pokes fun at various memes, celebrities, etc. It's a pretty funny show. I enjoy watching clips on YouTube, but haven't seen a full episode on TV yet.

And Dan VS. I watched one episode, and I liked it. But I haven't found the time to watch it again though.

I respect the teen who knows about the Smurfs, Ghostbusters, and The Great Grape Ape. Oh and Powerpuff Girls. It just seems unlikely but yes something for everyone watching.

Well... ok I meant teens (16+) to young adults. Happy now? I'm 17 and understand all the references. I think it's pretty obvious your average 13 year old would probably not get some of it.

Heh heh. That was pretty funny. I haven't heard of this show. I should probably look into this. Seems like a show I could definitely get interested in. Thanks for sharing this with us! ^_^

I'll admit, I miss Toonami. That was a part of my childhood.

I remember when it was funny. and not annoying.

A "MLP FiM Brony party" would be awesome.

Is it bad that I've never done any drugs and yet I tend to like stoner things?

There's nothing wrong with that. I liked "stoner" things before I was one for a short period of time (meaning a year) and I still like them. Just because something caters to a certain audience doesn't mean others can't appreciate it. *ahem* MLP *ahem*

Also, saying the entirety of CN now is a stoner network isn't right. Adult Swim has been and always will be but CN, while stoners do enjoy it, is still meant for kids. Surprisingly. The quality has gone way down but I love Adventure Time and Regular Show isn't too bad and now MAD! has shown me something so it's not all terrible.
