Just wanted to know if anyone is into that game. If so, have any CO's you have created, and who is your favorited CO? Although, you can post anything that is Advance wars related if you like.

    My Favorited CO is Olaf.

Yes, I've created a CO, but no idea of how to hack. So, can't put the character into the game. :(

I've played and enjoyed several of the Advance Wars games. It isn't about the CO's for me though. I enjoy the stratagy game itself. For a favorite, maybe Max I guess, but I just enjoy playing it.

What strategy do you use? For me, it seems that a having a mix of recon, infantry, and APCS seems to be a good opening. Anything strategy I like is attack units that do damage; and, if possible, go around units that don't. I do this because I don't waste time destroy those units, and the units that can't do damage help prevent my opponent from producing more units. For example, if my opponent has 30 APCS, then he can only attack me with 20 units. However, I'm allowed to attack him with more units.

Just wondering, but settings do you play on? I usually like 2vs2, or 4 player free full all. Although, I've thought about doing a 1 vs 3 before.

I'd always just turtle up until I could build a fleet of bombers, at least when I was playing AW 2, but that was a looooooong time ago
Since playing Dual Strike I used strategy a lot more, though I still gravitate towards using air units and trying to outpower the opponent

Free for All is the most fun imo

OH MY GOD YES THIS GAME.

though days of ruin sorta killed it IMO. they killed off all of the fun characters, made powerups sorta useless, and some of the weapons were either pointlessly underpowered or way too powerful. Dual strike i think was the best. i think i have over 200 hours on it.

eh, i didnt think it was too bad. it was Days of Ruin that made me want to chuck my DS against a wall. the last battle with caulder and his indestructable, self healing units is permanently etched in my mind

yeah, but those were usually from some crystal or something else easily destroyable. caulder just sorta hopped on a unit, and that unit plus all of the ones around him suddenly couldnt be stopped. and if you killed him, he just got on another one.

also, dual strike had CO ranks and skills, which were awesome.

yeah, but that was super powers, while with caulder it was every. freaking. turn.

but enough about the DS games, back to Genesis's question. i never actually hacked my game, didnt know you could at the time i played it haha. but my favourite CO was Hawke when you could use him, and Grit when you couldnt. And Grit had the coolest music

gonna revive a completely dead thread here, only to express my massive amount of frustration at this game right now. Im on a map with a time limit. So of course, time runs out when they have a single artillery unit, at 4 HP, surrounded by two of my tanks and my bomber.

I hate when that happens. I remember on the level "Sea Of Hope" where it took me forever to destroy enough units to allow my inf. units to capture the HQ. I also remember the level "Sinking Feeling" where it sometimes took me too long to destory the battleships. Finally, I remember the level "Danger X 9" where you think you killed all the units (Fog of War level) but then you miss one, and now you are forced to play the whole level all over again!

Danger X 9 was the one with one artillery unit left. Raged so hard

and for some reason, Sinking Feeling was easy for me this time. I think i just spammed rockets, and it all worked out. ive never been able to do it first try before.

And now I'm playing through all of the PDP maps on Days of Ruin. Cuz i can, and theyre actually pretty good.
