Hey guys :-D First up, I`m not much of a christmas fan. But last years event was something I really liked. And as far as I can tell, there is no thread about a new event for this year. Does this mean that no one is interested? Or is it because everyone`s too busy? Dunno, that`s why I opened this thread. Will there be a secret santa this year? Or does it depend on how many people want to participate? Oh no, it went that bad last year? Ponyfeathers... Maybe it would be of help if we or you or whoever might be organizing it this year have somethin like a rule to take part. Something like "you need to be active for at least 2 months" or "you must have at least 100 posts"... What a shame. I really thought it went well last year
As I recall, this was suggested, but tossed because it'd prevent people from participating even if they were new; besides, most of the gifts not given were from active members. (Who are now gone.) I'll have a talksy with Tyro to see what I can do.
Word is in: There will be no Secret Santa event this year. However, the staff have come up with an alternative that they will reveal at a later time. I'm fairly certain that you'll enjoy that one just as much, if not moreso than the secret santa event. If you want to start one though, find some members of the community to help you out with it.
I'd like to take part in the Secret Santa event. I participate in other forums I frequent. I think it's nice to get something, even if it's just something as simple as a poem. I could help organize or even just participate if you want to start one, The"S"Brony. To be honest, the easiest way to ensure everyone who participates gets a gift ... have the entries sent in a few days before the due date that way if something comes up they can still be delivered. If there is no entry they'll be removed from the list and the pairings will change. In all honesty there is plenty enough time for this to happen. In fact most Secret Santa events don't even start until December. Don't participate if you don't have the time. Don't participate if you don't feel like doing it. Don't expect to receive something without giving something in return. Don't throw a crap gift together at the last moment (a few pics from google image search thrown into a folder does not count as a gift). People could even participate to just give gifts (a general gift for everyone to receive) that way everyone gets something.
I'll talk to Tyro again tomorrow and see what I can scrounge up with him in regards to this. No guarantees, but if it's a yes, it's a yes.
