Anyone know a good, affordable, universal capture card?

I'm looking to get into recording game playthroughs, and I mostly play on consoles. I suppose I could simply do emulators for many things, but capture cards become necessary for some of the consoles that have no good emulators.

Preferably the capture card would be HD, but those seem to be pretty expensive. Also, I'd like to be able to record my voice while capturing the video, but I don't know how to go about doing that. And help would be appreciated.

Unless you can afford a HD PVR, which is pretty expensive.

As for an alternative, I'm not sure if the Dazzle would be sufficient.

For recording your voice while doing it, I'm pretty sure that is an option to allow you do to do it, or there's something on the capture card that will let you do that.

I'm not certain about most of this considering I've never done it, and have only done it for PC.

I know about the Hauppage HD PVR, but i saw nothing about mircophones or voice recordings in the overview or FAQ. I know there's a way though, because people do it all the time. x3

The thing about Hauppage, though, is it's component only, so older consoles (PS2, Gamecube, N64, etc) aren't compatible.

I personally use a Dazzle, but the Hauppage is much better quality.
...At the cost of much, MUCH more hard drive space consumption.

As for microphones... good luck finding a decent one.

I already have a decent one. I record singing, remember? I have a USB microphone designed for recording vocals.

Get a Dazzle. It works soooo well. My computer can't use the software that comes with because it's so big but I used on my channel for wind waker LPs and it does really well.
