So I am respectful of anyone who isn't interested in hearing about this show, but inspired from my success convincing people to check it out, by just pretending to be a casual guy who thinks the show is pretty good. I think it's time to bring some bigger guns out. I now have 4 people in my class converted to bronydom, but to convince the rest may require some more coaxing or subliminal messaging.

I sent this to my class's facebook group for them to all be exposed to. (They all know about ponies, because I did a class presentation about it.)

"Thanks to everypony.... I mean everyone who was on my crew on today's shoot you all worked great and I am happy to have such a great crew. Have a great weekend."

The shoot by the way was about us interviewing a brony about My Little Pony, so that comment, was in perfectly good taste.

Anyway I'm starting to see this as a social experiment.

Since my friends and class mates are starting to get used to my bronydom, I can maybe leak out a little more about the extent to which I am a brony. Now that they have seen I can behave like a normal cool person to hang out with and yet love ponies. They may get more and more comfortable with the idea of checking it out themselves.

So my goal is to be less subtle. I will drop more references, I will start mentioning the show more, at least until I get negative reaction, then I will back off.

I would be careful who you say this to.
If you just so happen to run into a /b/tard, well, expect rage.

I'm all for subliminal messaging, but if it gets you killed, it's a bad idea. So moderation is nice.

As for being a cool brony, I gave up on the concept of cool long ago. Too ephemeral.

Don't push it too hard, just be yourself, but don't be annoying with it to your friends, ok? you don't want to create some haters, don't you?

pony references and so are ok, I do it myself. I'm now waiting for sweety bell t-shirt which I'll wear in public (collage included), but I won't/am not talk about ponies all the time.
    Just be yourself.
as for cool, yes, I tend to "be cool" but most cool you can be to be yourself, if you like ponies, pokemon, star wars, whatever. Coolest thing is to be yourself and don't force anything to anyone else (unless it's it's for their own good, and by that I mean something that's life-death thing, which ponies aren't (for example, it's ok if you force friend to stop smoking, alcohol etc.))

Hopefully saying everypony will go better for you then me. I just thought it was part of my normal work randomness.

Maybe. I'd like to say "don't cross the line", but there isn't really any definitive line at all. For some people, you've already crossed it.

Just don't continuously shove it in your friends' faces, and you'll be good~

Just don't go too overboard with it.

Slowly increase how you do it maybe each day or week.

I'm sure you'll be able to convert more. Heh heh heh...

I thought about raising my pony profile IRL as well. I'm not as out of the stable as you are (you did a pony project thing in front of your class!), but I thought that a good way of indentifying/subliminal messaging bronies/possible converts is by whistling various songs from the series that you HAVE to be a brony to know! Like Winter Wrap Up or Art of the Dress, or even that little ditty Pinkie Pie did on making cupcakes!

If your aim is to convert, then these tunes will likely get caught in their heads and bother the hell out of them until they're given the source!

If the aim is to find more closet bronies, then those tunes will be frighteningly familiar to them and they will likely approach you on the matter.

Either way, you're one step closer to building a brony army in your area!

Don't do whatever you are doing.

Why do you care? What does it matter what they like or don't like? Why are you on a mission to convert everyone into MLP fans? None of what you do makes any sense to me because it seems very contradictory to what you say defend about liking MLP in the first place: People shouldn't rag on you for liking a television show, and in maybe a bigger picture, distance themselves from gender stereotyping. Similarly, you shouldn't be on your own crusade trying to convince people to join in your pony fixation and you should drop the odd ponyspeak when talking with others, especially professionals and your peers. This isn't proper and it doesn't provide a good image for us. What you should be working on is shutting up about this pony business in everything you do so that people get the message that "hey, this guy likes ponies, but is otherwise normal and isn't loud and pushy about it and doesn't shove his ponyisms down our throats".

Seriously, I don't get you. I know, I'm harsh, but this makes no sense to me. Maybe this is, again, nothing to do with getting people to like ponies, but forcing an environment for you and your peers where you are the center of something that others want to be in and you know the most about. In other words, it's really just about you wanting attention and recognition rather than caring if other people like cartoon ponies or not.

Too much bragging about this addiction will lead to people being annoyed, and thus another batch of fools. Stay subtle.

^ and they might think that all the bronies are annoying like that and that will only make us look bad.
just be normal, don't overdo anything. I mean, in talks to your friends, you can throw in 20% here and there, or say arrivederci here and there, but don't overdo it.
if people see you as normal guy like they are they'll more likely think: "Hey Setzer is normal guy, and he's brony. well, seems like bronies are all normal guys." that way, no new haters will be created. optional : "if he is normal guy like me, and he likes it, maybe I'll like it too" and making new bronies that way (that WAS the whole point of my "brony conversion strategy" topic. if they don't want to watch the show, or don't like the show for any reason, even so if they thing show is bad, peace of crap, gay (no offence to gay people, it's just figurative speech), etc, you should respect and tolerate that. after all, they think that way about the show, not about you.

for example: in my whole life I've watched total 10 min of Star Trek, and find it boring. if now some Trackie comes to me and everyday forces me to watch it, I'll eventually start to find him annoying (and if I was tending to think that way) I would think that all trackies are annoying like him since he's only trackie I know. I simply have my feelings towards that show, and I wouldn't like anyone to force me to watch it. I do respect everyone that loves that show, and I don't see them as trackies, but as normal people who like Star Track.
in some ways mlp:fim fandom (bronies) is growing to be as big as Star Track fandom (trackies). we should somewhat look up to them, since they are not pushy, but still know to show their fandom and enjoy it.

I love your frank honesty Manehattenite.

This is exactly why I post stuff like this before I go ahead with it, because people like you give me a whack on the back of my head with their hoof and say I'm being an idiot. I should stop trying to bring ponies and bronies into my everyday life I should keep them separate. In fact ponies have consumed my mind so much that I am neglecting my school work. I really need to distance myself from my fandom until I get things done.

    @Yetione

    YOU DON'T LIKE STAR TREK!!!!

    But......

if I only gave My Little Pony 10 minutes, I wouldn't be a brony!

that's all I will say. I don't want to be annoying.

Like I said before, no need subtlety...
But no need to insert it into your life either.
For instance, wearing the shirts. No prob there, and if people look/ask questions, you're not the one imposing, no one will feel that way.
Same with stuff like facebook. Posting ponies there is perfectly normal.
Even drawing ponies, and people looking and asking you... normal as well.
Basically, anything any other fandom does I guess, people will gain intrest XD

well, that's simply what I like and don't like.
I'm not really SF fan overall.
for example, I watched Star Wars movies, and they are nothing special to me, Lord of the Rings is ok to me, not great, not even good, just ok. Harry Potter is average story for me, I don't find anything special in it.
Ponies were different, I like cartoons regularly, and after 10 min of mlp I found out that I find it interesting. for example unlike Adventure Story which I watched for 20 min and got bored with it (even dough it's made by same creator as Chowder which is one of my favorite shows).
in star track, I can see why people find it interesting, and why it's so awesome for some people that like SF, but SF simply isn't my thing.

Well, for one, there are people who don't like things that are so hard not to like. If they just don't want to watch it, don't force them. Why would it matter to you if you had one more brony frined? Where I live, I don't think anyone for 100 miles has even HEARD of the show. I'm fine with it. I make pony references ALL the time. Nobody ever gets them, though, so I eventually gave up.

Hmmm, noone here knows at all either. But the people where I am... don't know of a lot of things. I don't share much more than the very simplest, core intrests with them...
I agree with ParanoidPenguin, while at the same time keeping to my original statement.
