Yes it will involve both humans and ponies. Spoiler: Background story if you're interested Age of the space travel is upon us! Mankind has united under the United Nations Republic (UNR) and has mastered the arts of deep space travel, allowing us to traverse the final frontier. Colonization of planets has begun and hundreds of planets have been colonized and claimed by the UNR and are protected by the United Nations Naval Space Corps (UNNSC) and the United Nations Marine Corps (UNMC). As the UNR reaches farther into space, many of the outer colonies have considered ceding form the URN, forming the Colonial Federation (CF) and its own naval corps (CFNC) and the Federal Tactician Corps (FTC). The UNR and CF have clashed over control of the outer colonies, taking a toll on both sides. The year is 2145, and the UNSS Sawyer has taken a blind jump after a surprise attack from the Federation. The UNSS Sawyer, A medium corvette cruiser, is now in orbit above Equrestria and a recon team is being sent out to recon the surface. The TFC has tracked the UNSS Sawyer and is now sending a fleet to finish the job.
