    First you swap him for a better mage. xD Nah, just kidding. The growths rates in this game are good enough to use anyone. I'd say go Dark Knight first and level him to 15 to get Lifetaker, which heals 50% of your max HP when you kill someone on your turn. After that go Sage, who learns Tomefaire at level 15, which increases magic by 5 when you have a tome equipped.

    A game grump would grump as much grump as a game grump could grump if a game grump could grump grump.

    To answer your unasked question, cursing is allowed in videos and images as long as you put them in a spoiler tag warning about the cursing.
